It was raining earlier but it hasn't washed the frost away yet.
It's supposed to be thawing tomorrow.
Goodnight.

Goodnight Margie, it's been raining here but it's stopped now. Frost has long gone since this morning but the ice on the lake is quite thick even though it's now covered in water it'll take a while to go. Amazingly, the geese have returned. They were wandering around the car park.

There was a couple of icy patches left on the field but most of it has gone.
Much warmer today though
so they're not on someone's dinner table.😁
Goodnight.
20-12-2022 12:18 AM
Goodnight Margie, the lake is still covered in ice except for the patch at the North end and that's getting bigger now. The geese have gone again. I didn't think they were on someone's dinner table, I thought they'd ended up in someone's freezer. They're quite tame after some people had been hand-feeding them so they could easily be grabbed......

Another few days and it's all over and back to normal.
Goodnight.

Goodnight Margie. Oh no it won't, we've not long finished Black Friday (Which went on for weeks!!), next it'll be the Boxing day sales which'll run in to and alongside the New year sales which'll last for a month!
The geese are back again, the ice is retreating at the lake, most of the East side is ice-free. Speaking of the geese, they spotted a lady who gives them seeds.... they walked right up a bank to her and she was talking to them!

Yes, quite a few Fridays.
I won't be going to any sales.
Theres nothing I need enough to fight my way through sales for it.
Goodnight.
22-12-2022 12:20 AM
Goodnight Margie, neither will I. I'm not going shopping until next year now.
The ice is retreating at the lake, it's clear all along the East side and right round the island. It's clear at most of the edges of the West side but the whole of the South end is still all completely covered in ice.
The geese were there, one was lying down on the East path. It didn't move when I walked past it so I asked them where they'd been😀 they didn't answer so I told them where they'd end up if they didn't keep away from humans.... in someones oven 😀

😱Poor geese, fancy frightening them like that.😮😁
Goodnight.
23-12-2022 12:28 AM
Goodnight Margie, they didn't listen, today they walked up the path with me to the car park. I said "I've warned you pair, keep away from people until after Christmas...."
The ice has retreated from most of the East side, all round the island and part of the West side closest to the bank but the South end is still completely covered in ice. What's in the North end is very thin and the Ducks have been breaking a lot of it by going through it.
What puzzles me is why 20 seagulls just hang around standing on the ice. What the heck are they doing that for? Shouldn't they be finding food somewhere?

Loads of seagulls on the field.
Nothing to worry about, I'll explain properly in the morning, it's about a puppy 🐶.
24-12-2022 12:13 AM
Goodnight Margie, oh no, you've not got another?
A few seagulls at the lake, a lot less than yesterday and a lot more ice has melted away. The banksides all round the South end are clear but most of the middle of the South end is still covered. All the North, East and West is now clear. Although there were 4 cars on the car park, there were very few people walking round because it had been raining and there was a sharp shower while I was there. I only met one lady who feeds birdseed to the ducks and when I eventually left, I saw her at the other lake with the geese.

As usual I left everything until the last minute.
So I've been busy sorting money and cards out for tomorrow.
Not long finished.
Hopefully back to normal by tomorrow night.
Goodnight.

Goodnight Margie, distinct lack of organisation there I think.
It was Sunny thisw morning and then the clouds came. There's been some rain, nothing of note though. The overnight rain has turned the water in the lake pretty cloudy, some water goes in straight off the road. The South end is still iced over but all the banksides are clear of ice now. Quite a few peple walking round today.

You're right, no organisation at all but never mind it all got sorted eventually.
It was forecast heavy rain here but it didn't materialise.
Goodnight.

Goodnight Margie, better late than never so they say?
It rained on and off this morning before the Sun eventually stayed out.
At the lake, thick mist was rising and the ice sheet had retreated more but the whole lot had moved en masse towards the South Bank. The geese survived, they were paddling around honking.

Yes, so they do.
I'm glad it's over now.
Goodnight.
27-12-2022 12:18 AM
Goodnight Margie, you've not enjoyed it?
At the lake, the ice sheet had retreated a lot more and that remaining had moved over towards the South West, lots of it was very thin, the ducks could break it. However..... there's a hard frost now so we'll see what it's like tomorrow.

I did but I'm always glad to get back to normal.
Very cold today.
Goodnight.
28-12-2022 12:19 AM
Goodnight Margie, are you normal now? 😇
It's been cold today with a strong wind for a while also, some showers. It was raining again earlier tonight. The ice sheet at the lake has shrunk more and what's left has moved away from the South bank and up to the West bank. The middle of it must still have some thickness because there's still some thick branches yobs/people have thrown on it, those round the edges have gone through.
