Girl, 11, will be Britain's youngest mother

A girl is to become Britain's youngest mother after becoming pregnant at 11.

The girl smokes 20 cigarettes a day despite being eight months' pregnant. She conceived aged 11 when she lost her virginity to a boy of 15 on a drunken night out with friends.

The 15-year-old has since been charged with **bleep** by police, and is due to appear again at Edinburgh sheriff court on July 10.

Her 34-year-old mother, who gave birth to her youngest child eight months ago, said she was 'proud' of her daughter.

She will be 12 years and 8 months when she has the child next month. Jenny Teague, Britain's youngest mother until now, was a month older when she gave birth in 1997.

The youngster, who lives near Edinburgh, says looking after her younger brothers has prepared her for motherhood.

But the girl admits she "panics and cries" when babies are unwell and does not feel able to bathe them.

The mother-to-be, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had unprotected sex with the teenage boy, who also cannot be identified, while drunk last August.

'Excited'

She told the Sun: "I didn't think I'd get pregnant because it was my first time. But I'm really excited and looking forward to being a mum.

"I can't wait to take the baby swimming and out for walks in the pram. I think I'll be able to cope as I've had lots of practice looking after my brothers.

"I know how to feed a baby its bottle and I can change nappies. But I panic and cry if they're sick and I don't like giving them a bath because I'm a bit frightened.

"It's good to know I'll have my mum here to help me if I need her."

BTW I don't intend to comment on the thread you linked to because I can't see anything wrong with it - if you think it breaks board posting rules, then take your own advice and report it to the CM.

It was you who brought up the subject of wanting special rules for certain posters such that they should not be disagreed with.

Other than personal grudge as you put it, I have no idea what you are talking about either, and since you offer nothing to support your accusations, I can only reasonably assume, neither do you.

I didn't really expect you would have any comments to make on that thread, despite claiming an interest in so-called 'bullying'given the posters involved, as it seems it all depends on who is saying something, not what is said, with some.

It quite likely does, but then others are far far more keen on pressing buttons than I am for all sorts of reasons
and i'm sure most have a substantial 'victim' hat collection as it is, some with matching handbags and the odd skirt to hide behind no doubt.

I have three daughters, and some grandchildren.  I once held a dead 14 year old black youth in my arms - doing this in order to turn him face up for the police photographs we were taking.  He had borrowed his mother's car, and was racing down the highway at a horrible rate of speed, when he hit a fence.  I held him, and it hit me then, so help me, God, it all came apart - I held him and thought of my kids, and I was falling apart, praying I could put him back together and make him well.  Too much, too often, you see.  It was not a good day.

The point is that an eleven year old girl either has, or is about to give birth.  There is a lot of religious condemnation out there, and a lot of judgment.  Everybody here on the chat board has it right - and that's good.  But the point is that none of this matters at all, not one bit.....except one thing, and one thing only - pray for the little girl, hug the little girl, take care of her, her and her offspring.  Nothing matters besides that - nothing at all.

What on earth is everybody wittering on about?  All this happened SIX YEARS AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Why's the story suddenly been resurrected?  The only thing that sticks in my throat is what the mother said - that she was PROUD of her daughter.  Proud?  PROUD??  HOW THE HELL CAN ANYBODY BE PROUD OF WHAT HAPPENED?!!!  I give up - doh!

As you say it happened many years ago! If you read the young woman's post she is fed up with people's comments about something they know nothing about, so can we please respect her wishes.. I for one applaud her bravery in coming forward to defend her corner.

I agree Sash.  I didn't read the girl's comments until after I'd posted mine - I was only on page four of about page seven, so I stand very much corrected.  As our Saviour said in response to somebody having been caught having an affair red handed: "Let ye who hath not sinned, cast the first stone."  Too late now, I regret my harsh words - I have many skeletons in my closet.  I hope that girl reads this comment some time,  I was just so amazed to have found this particular case resurfacing.  

If the unfortunate victim of this tragedy is out there, or if anybody can contact her, then I say unreservedly:  "I'M SORRY."  Fred ( eyes cast down).
