For Info: a cautionary tale

Erm, wasn't quite sure where to put this but didn't want to clog an important forum like Member-to-Member support.  Hopefully it'll give a few of you a laugh or pause-for-thought...

I found four dvds/blu-rays on Amazon.com which were much cheaper than Amazon.co.uk or eBay (which I do use for preference).  When I tried to purchase them I got a weird Payment Declined error - weird as I have funds and the US site simply duplicates my UK account card which I use every month or so.

I checked my card details which were fine, and sort of convinced myself that Amazon.com refused to ship digital media to the UK.  So I bit the bullet and ordered 3 from Amazon.co.uk and 1 from eBay.

Two days later while I was sat in a pub, I suddenly got a flurry of emails and bank activity and guess what?  Amazon.com belatedly processed my order which was declined, so I've now been deluged with multiple orders of the same item.  I've returned them with the reason 'Payment Not Authorised' which Amazon have accepted but I'm not getting the postage back.

I've never had a problem with eBay abusing my card but this has made me seriously think about Amazon.  Either I'm going to delete my card details and only enter them when *I* want to order or I may close the account.

I recommend this method - it doesn't take that long.
