Re: Food Banks

The bottom line is this

What do the people of this country want the government to spend the tax money on ?

Once the idea of govs was to spend the money how the democratic majority who voted them in told them to,if this meant all the dosh went on creating work so nobody got left out ,then so be it...yts training schemes were not the worst idea, but how did those training end up with less than those not doing anything ?  the government of course.

Why is oppertunity and work and wealth not being created by the tax money ? What  is stopping money altogether going to accomplish? what is the cretin talking about hope in the same sentence as people and desperate for ?

This country needs to wake up here, the last government ,was not a government ,it was a shower of theives set in motion by the government prior to them and this government is a load of morons without answers and there are 2 parties supposedly involved...if cuts are needed for the poorest then cuts are needed for the richest too but they have given themselves a pay rise and spent it on a funeral and sent it to help govs abroad that the people abroad don't actually want in charge ,aid to countries that don't need it or want it or ask for it etc..

Why I ask ,well its simplistic to the core and coined by The Iron Lady herself,  ''because we can'' and they can because 'Us **bleep**'  are soooo busy counting 10p ,starving ,complaining, watching tv,calling each other names and basically making sure we dont join hands it was easy peasy.

In a nutshell

It was obvious a melevolent despot would help themselves because we trusted them and hated each other.

so time to be real british and turn telly on ,count my dosh and call everyone behind their backs ,whilst I pay my slaves a tin of beans a week to make me a ship to ecsape in..gotta look out for number one Smiley Tongue

Re: Food Banks

How much money do you need to live?

I'd like to see an in-depth study of what the people "in poverty" actually get and what it's spent on.

Re: Food Banks

wondering why you inveted in poverty ? are you assuming that its a fairy story and no one is actually ''in poverty'' CD ?

If one person can live on say 12 poundy coins a week, then surly all can and there is no need for anyone to have 600 is there.

But then you end up with a lot of stored cash that tony bliar can pinch off you 🙂

Re: Food Banks

The reason I put "poverty" in inverted commas was that from what I see, some of those "in poverty" are in the poverty of their own making. They fritter money away on all sorts of stuff not needed to "live".

As I walk round with my dog, I see the same households with overflowing bins and loadsa trash hanging around. I see re-cycling boxes loaded with tin cans, not all of them food either plus, lotsa bottles which contained bottled water. What the heck for? Those in poverty in Africa would give an arm and a leg for the water we get out of our taps. Alongside the bins, I see bags stuffed with all sorts and wonder just how much money they're wasting each week?

The edit button is on the right, click "options" and you'll see it there BUT, you have about 5 minutes to edit, after that, the option's not available.

Re: Food Banks

David Cameron recognises foodbanks

Trussell Trust Executive Chairman Chris Mould was invited to David Cameron's Easter Celebration at 10 Downing Street recently in recognition of the important work that foodbanks are doing across the UK.

Chris says: 'The Prime Minister's acknowledgement of foodbanks is testament to the incredible work of all those across the UK who have stepped up and launched foodbanks in their towns to stop people going hungry. It's a big well done to everyone involved.

Re: Food Banks

a big well done to everyone involved ? ..mr cameron acknowledges ?? Am I mad (dont answer that) not a big well done for mr cameron surly ?

Anyhow ,thanks CD on edit and ,yes I suppose your right in respect of how some poor do waste and it has been said that this is a direction the government should be heading in in the long term get money back plan ,educating people to help themselves...I agree

I cannot say that a rich man didnt earn the right to be,I cannot say a poor man deserves to be either ,but in todays world where politicians are paid enough to live a comfortable lifestyle then what right have they to create a situation where people cannot afford food ?   they havent, full stop .

They should be the first to do without if there isnt enough to go around and how they spend money should be the focus of study first imo

Comparing poor people in the UK with poor people in Africa is pretty pointless. But having said that, also their governments are a major part of the problems there...as we all know.

Making the assumption that poor people in the UK waste their money on "useless" things is what media brainwashing does for you. Heaven forbid that the poor dare to buy some things that others deem unnecessary for their survival.

Sticking your head in the sand and making poor people out to be wasters is not helpful. Most of those poor were in jobs a few years back, contributing to the system....maybe some people have conveniently forgotten that fact.

Re: Food Banks

"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered...I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies... The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs." – Thomas Jefferson

Whats going on? The inability of some people living in a comfortable paralell universe to recognise the povery and suffering of their fellow countrymen,I,ve met a few of them who live in complete denial even when a foodbank opens down the street from them, that is untill it happens to them or their loved ones that they begin to understand.

But "theres no money left" Pull the other one!

Re: Food Banks

Foodbanks are the new benefit system.

Why do people use foodbanks? Here's one reason.

Workfare is pathetic. My brother was sent on a placement, one of his scheduled "work" days was on the same day as his sign in day. He asked the job centre what he should do. He was told to go and sign on then go to his placement. He did as he was told and the employer reported him to the job centre for being late and he got sanctioned for 3 months. 3 months with NO money.

Sorry can't give the link, it contains a "bleep".
