Ebay has just started to ask me to VERIFY my credentials....nothing wrong with them !!
It's now doing the CAPTCHA clicky traffic light/shop window/lamp-posts etc. etc. bit.
Whilst i have no problem with this (my credentials were just fine before and i've not changed anything) my concern is the CHANGING foreign language (the copyright bit at the bottom) IS changing from one language to another at random/each time i try to log in !!!
One minute (usually mostly this country) it's Chinese, the next it's Italian then sometimes it's German....mmmmm....ALARM BELLS methinks......especially as the URL above clearly states .co.uk and my Ebay language preference is set to UK.
I did screen-shots of the various language Copyright message at the bottom of the screen but i no longer use PhotoCROOK (sorry i meant PB) to be able to show you what i mean....Ebay an "upload from your PC" button would be better here IMO.
In my opinion Ebay has been hacked but they haven't the cajones to admit it for fear of panic !! (again i could be wrong, but i'll let others be the judge)
I've emptied the cache/cookies and everything else as per suggestions in different Google searches but the RESEND still pops up and once or twice i clicked/ticked the "I'M NOT A ROBOT" and it INSTANTLY logged me in WITHOUT clicking on any pictures !!! **bleep**...if this is a SECURITY check/verification then it's not doing it's job very well....instantly logging me in WITHOUT clicking the picture mmmm something smells fishy here.....call me paranoid if you will but i'd rather be paranoid than handing over my account to some scumbag masquerading as me to do as they will with my account....if i didn't have PayPal (which some part of it loads in the background....check little snitch/No Script/other) as a payment option then i wouldn't give 2 monkeys about who/what was trying to get at my account/sat in the background waiting for me to "re-enter" my credit card/other information; but i DO have/use PayPal so hence my concern about NOW logging into my account !!
I HAD to click the IMO "bogus" verification process just to get access to this Community bit....not happy about it.
Before anyone asks; YES i did also switch off ALL my ad-blocking/No-Script/other plugins to test if the login process....and it STILL shows the CAPTCHA millarky.
IMO the Captcha is no different than your internet banking in that when you are logging in you are clicking on a PICTURE (albeit a picture of a letter/number) instead of TYPING in the same letter/number to avoid key-stroke loggers....my point is; the picture you are clicking COULD be (IMO) a lamp-post/traffic light/other but IN REALITY is masquerading as "i accept" or "i give my permission" or "i allow the following"....you get the picture (pardon the pun)....what you see/click on (IMO) is not always necessarily what you may think it is !!!
Again in my opinion this all smells fishy to me...and as such i'm either not going to use Ebay anymore or leave my account constantly logged in; which i'm far from happy about doing.
Ebay i await your response.
Yours JnS.

Hi
Firstly there is no one from Ebay here. Just other members trying to give accurate helpful advice to other fellow members.
Yes i too have just lately been asked to confirm i am not a bot when signing in and getting the pictures of traffic lights etc.
IF you are worried about your Paypal account then just put a lock on it. This way a code is text to your phone which you have to enter before access is given. Can be annoying at times but is a good security feature.

Suggestion ... sounds like another of the various problems now being seen by members who are still using IE ... Internet Explorer is now outdated, unsupported by Microsoft, no longer fully compatible with eBay and is replaced by Edge ... install and try another eBay friendly browser of your choice ... Edge, Chrome or Firefox.
Apps/mobile devices have limited function and are unreliable in trying to manage an eBay account successfully.

Thanks for the replies peeps; it's much appreciated.
I'm a Linux user and as such Firefox has been my goto/default browser on all my systems (PC/Mac/moby etc.)....i wouldn't touch IE with a barge-pole. Some would say i'm over-zealous regarding security etc. etc. but i don't trust anything that i connect to...the world is unfortunately full of scumbags trying to relieve you/me with our dosh; and it's not getting any better !!
I assumed (bad mistake i know) that Ebay staff monitored/helped out on here....i'm now a wiser soul.
The PayPal was/is my main concern and what you suggest is a good solution; albeit a tedious one....but better to be safe than sorry.
I'm still dubious about the "changing language/more frequent Chinese one" ....and i'm still cautious/suspicious in this matter.
In the meantime i'm gonna persevere with my NoScript/AdBlock/other addons and see if i can get "around" the "not quite working" captcha BS.
FWIW i googled and found that some users have had this captcha **bleep**e from 2014 !! ....but i'm only just now getting asked to verify.....you'd think that if a "security measure" has/had-been instigated at year x then "everyone" would get the same verification process AT THE SAME TIME !! .....stills smells fishy IMO.
Thanks once again guys.

I've seen numerous complaints by users being requested to sign-in or use the captcha pictures multiple times for quite a while now. (Didn't realise it had been about since '14 though) For a while I was caught up in the captcha thing with several requests every time I checked RM tracking via the ebay link.
Not very techie minded but if it has been going on for so long and affected so many accounts, doesn't that point to it being a(nother) glitch rather than a hack? With me it went away after a while with no more reason than it had arrived, certainly not because I did or changed anything.
I took no extra precautions when it hit me and no-one emptied my paypal account. I've yet to read on any thread about these annoying events where anyone has had any problems with their paypal accounts. Surely the lack of reports of anything other than the annoyance indicates that is all there is going on.

Have You got very good 'online security'
I have, I get asked for captcha - ALL the time on sites
Usually because, my browser. clears loads of cookies, on closing

That's a good question and one that, with my level of tech skill, not easy to answer. I have a McAfee package that tells me regularly that it protects my computer from everything. I haven't had any issues with this machine since I bought it with the package installed. I've re-newed the subscription annually, twice.
I delete cookies, browsing history etc., through the control panel regularly, run a Malwarebytes (free) scan at less regular intervals and presumably Windows Defender is running all the time.
As above, the experience I had with repeated requests from captcha only happened for a few weeks, only when using RM Track & Trace through ebay. It wasn't something that irritated me unduly, so I ignored it until it went away.
I find it vaguely reassuring that someone is using any sort of security in the background, without really understanding why or what for. When I sign-in to ebid, it scans my browser for whatever. Presumably it is RM that's protecting itself in some way by using the captcha pictures, I assume / hope that by getting through these defenses it confirms that my computer isn't infected with anything they don't want on their sites.

Try contacting Ebay via Facebook ,thety are very good and nice!

I am currently unable to see any sellers All Feedback page due to the discriminatory / non functional Captcha system and I won't be buying anything else until I can.
I'm also unable to get to the Help & Contact pages, for the same reason - it insists I prove I'm human.
hCaptcha has an accessibility cookie, which I've set, but eBay claims I haven't. There is no alternative to solving a visual puzzle (set of poor quality images), which discriminates against a number of people, for various different reasons. Perhaps more relevant to eBay - it loses them sales and customers.
I don't do Facebook or Twitter. If they can support people there, they can do it here - or they can lose me as a customer, after at least 15 years of using eBay.

Same problem, I have installed a seperate browser just to use ebay when I can be bothered. I have also been buying more and more from amazon, as I don have problems with my browser on their site. Hope this helps.

I too am now getting this captch thing every time I click on anything on my page. I have been with Ebay for years and years and this is putting me off from buying and using Ebay because it comes up with every click. I will end up switching all of my buys from Amazon as I do not get htis problem with them.
