Hello to all our old friends and newcomers alike. Welcome to Bill & Charlie's Bar - the place to meet other posters and to sit and chat while you sample your favourite tipple. Plenty to drink, lots of joking but alas no smoking.

We are open all hours (hic) and run a respectable Bar. (Although I argued with Charlie until I was blue in the face over that one!) No swearing, spitting or drun..drunk...drunken beeeehaviour (hic). We have a couple of bouncers to hand ~ she comes in on Friday nights.

Teetotallers are welcome and will be treated as normal. I jest ~ soft drinks are available at the bar along with light snacks. And finally, please use the emergency exit when Bill rambles on about the good ol' days and put plugs in your ears when Charlie 'sings'.

Teaching? I have done some at University - and loved it. I've been told I'm very good at explaining things and I do have enthusiasm which helps. I had an interview once for a lectureship (rather than research which I have done mostly). I was only 40 and have always got on really well with young people, but they ended up taking someone in their early 20s who might have more in common with the students - utter nonsense. I knew the university well and heard later she was a good friend of the Professor's son - a bit of nepotism there - and she was absolutely useless and the students didn't like her! I gather she didn't last long!

I'm too old now to get a post at a University, but I had wondered about writing some lectures and offering one offs as I think some Universities will do that.

School teaching - no way and I would be too old - but again could do the odd talk/lecture I suppose.

I'm feeling a bit self-conscious chatting on here rather than FC - dunno why!!!

If you lived near harry - I would add you on the rota of 'shower' friends :^O . I'm collecting bottles of wine, and edibles or fancy soaps for teetotallers as a thankyou gift!

I had a great shower tonight at a near neighbours, and she fed me a fab dinner too - which was a lovely surprise !

I'm sure no-one will want to read about my life and plumbing disasters! It's hardly raising the level of convo!! But I suppose if I was locked in a pub right now I might be asking if an electrician was about so I could ask if I could get electrocuted!

I suppose I could ask on a thread on here. Yvonne had a good run with her central heating thread!

I had that thought a few days ago whne under the shower - all the shampoo and suds were on and I suddenly wondered about this stream of water I spotted coming out of the unit instead of the hose, and all that electricity 😮 ....I couldn't get the soap and shampoo off fast enough - I think I was holding my breath :^O

People talk about all sorts in pubs, and who knows....you might get a better job offer than working in the bar. 🙂

One night a police officer was staking out a particularly rowdy bar for possible DUI violations. At closing time, he saw a fellow tumble out of the bar, trip on the curb, and try his keys in five different cars before he found his. Then he sat in the front seat fumbling around with his keys for several minutes. Everyone else left the bar and drove off. Finally he started his engine and began to pull away. The police officer was waiting for him. He stopped the driver, read him his rights and administered the Breathalyzer test. The results showed a reading of 0.0. The puzzled officer demanded to know how that could be. The driver replied, "Tonight I'm the designated decoy.”

Good morning all. I note we had a bit of a ding-dong last night on here. :^O

Not a lot of damage though. Once the door's been put back on its hinges and Boogie the cat is settled in rehab nobody will notice any difference. :^O
