Hello to all our old friends and newcomers alike. Welcome to Bill & Charlie's Bar - the place to meet other posters and to sit and chat while you sample your favourite tipple. Plenty to drink, lots of joking but alas no smoking.
We are open all hours (hic) and run a respectable Bar. (Although I argued with Charlie until I was blue in the face over that one!) No swearing, spitting or drun..drunk...drunken beeeehaviour (hic). We have a couple of bouncers to hand ~ she comes in on Friday nights.
Teetotallers are welcome and will be treated as normal. I jest ~ soft drinks are available at the bar along with light snacks. And finally, please use the emergency exit when Bill rambles on about the good ol' days and put plugs in your ears when Charlie 'sings'.
Come on in...:-D

I thought I pop in for a minute to see if everyone is behaving themselves. 🙂
I could do with a coffee Bill. 🙂
How are you diddling?

Am diddling okay too, thanks. How are you?

Enjoy your coffee ~ that's if you're still here :^O

Will he be a Scot or a Brit at the end?
It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.

Just to be quite clear, I'd have liked Murray to win but it annoys me when "The media" call him a Brit when he wins but a Scot when he loses.

He played well. I think his game has moved nearer the standard of the top 3 in the last yr, but Djokovic is still ahead of him generally and deserved his win today, IMV.
Should be a great final on Sunday if they are both in good form. 🙂

I'm not sure about this Murray/Lendl combo myself. Agreed, they are on the same wave-length, mood-wise! 😛 But, surely someone with a different attitude would be better, given that it is attitude that has got in Murray's way on so many occasions.
Lendl's idea of demonstrating joy is to sit slightly forward in his seat and remove one of the dozen creases from his frown. A bundle of lighthearted laughs he ain't! :^O
I'll bet Rafa was rubbing his hands with glee as it went to a 4th and then a 5th set. 😉

*pops in to discuss the tennis with Charlie*
Well ... what a match, eh?
Shame either of them had to lose after such a marathon effort.
When Djokovic broke back to even things up in the first, I thought he would run away with that set. But no. When It got to a tie-break in the 4th, I thought Djokovic would wrap it up. But no. When he really slumped at the beginning of the 5th, I thought Nadal had it. But no.
So exciting, right to the end. Djokovic played just slightly better, but had it gone on much longer, Nadal's superior stamina would have won the day.
And don't the Aussie fans have work to go to on a Monday morning? 😮
:^O

* Wanders in to catch up with Caution about the tennis* :-x
Indeedy, what a match! A real old scrap wasn't it...![]()
Not just a classic but a real slugfest at the end! :^O
How they both kept playing such superb tennis when they were clearly shattered was unbelievable and wonderful to watch. I really thought it was all over in the fourth too and then Rafa came back fighting like the champ he is but I think even he couldn't believe how well Novak was playing.
Just fantastico!
At least Andy can now say he was beaten by the eventual winner of the Open. I don't think he could say that before ~ but Henman could! 😉
As for Aussies working Monday morning, how they all got home is a miracle too ~ the commentators said all public transport in Melbourne stops at 11pm! :^O
