Is not Stephen Fry the most arrogant, ignorant, obnoxious person on TV? To think that the BBC pays people like him to insult a person who has won a prestigious award for their work. Disgraceful.
There........got that off my chest, it's been making me angry all morning.

😂😂😂.....Brilliant!

Thank you Astro, I didn't see that, but I thought I was the only person in the UK who couldn't stand him.

Oh no Marg*e...you are not alone! Last night was not the first time he has overstepped the mark at an awards ceremony. I recall him correcting someone's grammar one year. He is so far up his own backside he is in danger of disappearing. But maybe that would be a good thing!
For those on here who didn't see him last night, he insulted a lovely lady who had won an award for costume design, by accusing her of going to the ceremony dressed like a bag lady. Outrageous! If I were here I would have marched back on that stage and smacked him with my BAFTA.

The women who he "insulted" is a good friend of his and they have worked together before, she knew that the insult was just a joke,in fact they posed together for photo's at the reception afterwards
"So just a word to the tragic figures who think calling Jenny Bevan a bag lady was an insult. She's a dear friend and she got it. Derrr"
— Stephen Fry (@stephenfry) February 14, 2016
So,not as outrageous as people are making out! Wheres the PC Brigade when you need them eh?
15-02-2016 7:12 PM
I suppose the situation is like two ebay "friends" bantering on here. Neither is offended by what the other is saying but readers think they're in to a personal dispute, report them and get them both banned for a PD?
It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.
Live long and prosper.

They may be friends, but it still doesn't excuse his arrogance and boorish behaviour. As I mentioned before...this is not the first time.
15-02-2016 9:48 PM
I was only half watching the BAFTAs but I must admit my head snapped up when I heard him say that and I did think, blimey that's a bit rude.
I have read on Facebook today that it was a private joke between friends so I guess that's OK although I still don't think it was particularly funny. In fact the whole show was stilted and dull.
Anyway, he's flounced off Twitter now apparantly and de-activated his account. Oh well...

He is one of the very few REAL susperstars of British TV
He does not suffer fools glady and does not play the UK gutter presses games, so they always have a go at Him
16-02-2016 11:27 AM
A lot of fuss about nothing, a private joke between friends which was accepted as such by the lady concerned. It's only people who find offence in everything they see and hear who have turned it into an issue and of course the press picked up on it as they always will.
16-02-2016 12:02 PM
That would depend apon your definition of a superstar. He is arrogant, and has an inflated sense of his own superiority.
16-02-2016 12:23 PM
So "Superstar" has hissyfit !
16-02-2016 3:48 PM
If Jenny Beavan wasn't offended by it, why should the Twitterati et al, clutch their pearls in horror ? If they think Stephen Fry is rude and offensive, they obviously haven't encountered Jimmy Carr or Frankie Boyle in full flow.
Anyway, there's always someone ready to leap onto the outrage bus, isn't there ?

Another nonentity who seems to have filled his face with sandwiches, Over inflated bodies with over inflated egos to match. More blubber on him than on a seal.

I didn't say he was rude, or offensive.I said he was arrogant, ignorant and obnoxious. Very different adjectives. Stephen Fry is like Marmite....people either like him or loathe him. You obviously like him....I loathe him. And I don't wear pearls.
19-02-2016 10:23 PM
I loathe him, and I don't wear or even possess pearls either.

From next year the acronym will change to reflect a new identity, British academy will be dropped and replaced by Performance Union Film and Theatre Awards in a bid to reflect diversity.
21-02-2016 12:24 PM
😂😂😂.....Brilliant!

Perfectly valid and compatible synonyms, in relation to the examples quoted by yourself.
But thank you for the Norma Desmond moment. You deserve an award. Why ? Because you're worth it.

Why don't you apply to be next year's BAFTA/PUFTA host ? Funny, intelligent and erudite, you would be an excellent candidate, Don't know whether or not you possess any other of Mr Fry's attributes, but the above three should at least get you past the preliminaries.
21-02-2016 7:10 PM
What a Capital Idea, Thing is I would never be considered good enough to host a BAFTA ceremony and I certainly would not wish to get in via the backdoor simply because of a name change.
21-02-2016 10:19 PM
Arrogant, ignorant and obnoxious are all aspects of a person's personality. Rude and offensive are examples of a person's attitude to other people. So therefore not synonyms.🙂
