Any ideas about this?

This afternoon the phone rang and I could see there was no number showing, just a line of "dots".

Suspicious, I answered cautiously and a female voice with a "foreign" sounding accent asked for me by name, recounted my address and phone number and began to address me by my Christian name. I asked who she was calling from, (twice) but couldn't make out what she was saying but she mentioned something about voting (dunno what she said then) and asked my age (twice).

I said that I was sorry I couldn't understand what she was saying or who she was from ( I meant what business) or what she wanted.

She then rang off!!!!

I'm wondering if 1/ it's a scam or 2/ it might have something to do with the vote about Police Dog Finn or 3/ It's something to do with another poll I voted on.

If it was legitimate, why ring off? What do you think?

Sounds like a scammer to me. I have call guard but they are now using local exchange numbers to get through, it is a PIA. When they sound foreign they usually are and it's either a scam or an unsolicited sales call. There is so much information within the public domain getting names addresses and telephone numbers is a breeze.

If you suspect it's a scam then it probably is. When I get such calls the first thing I say is....This number is ex-directory, who gave it to you? They invariably hang up and don't call again.
