Another long round of legal action ahead?

http://news.sky.com/story/1107276/boat-race-protester-faces-deportation-from-uk

When he was pulled from the water after disrupting the Boat Race he had a smug "look at me, aren't I clever" look on his face.

Now this bloke is Australian, can you imagine what the Aussies would do to a Brit who'd done something similar down under? (if he was was effectively a guest in the country?)

The chap seems to be a bit of a wastrel to say the least:-

Another long round of legal action ahead?

A bloke jumps in the river and delays a boat race for a few minutes,He's sentenced to 6 months prison and is being deported-Over the top or what?

If an Australian jumped in the way of racing greyhounds at Brough park in Newcastle he'd get turfed out maybe with a black eye from one of the punters, but that would be it,upset the establishment and woe betide you, anyway who watches these things? perhaps if they stuck a powerful outboard motor on each boat and let the ram each other it might be watchable, but only just, strange how we cannot appear to deport foreign murderers, rapists and others, but protest against the establishment and you're public enemy No 1,getting a bit like North Korea

Did you read the other links?

His refusal of leave to remain here was because it was considered to be "not condusive to the public good", a polite way of saying that he was an undesirable troublemaker.

He wasn't jailed because he disrupted a boat race, he was jailed for "causing a public nuisance".

If he's so "anti-establishment", perhaps he should take off for someplace more to his liking and perhaps North Korea might be a good starting point?

I do agree with what you are saying CD, but joe is also making a pertinent observation based on what you have summarised.

Well, I think "The Establishment" tried their hardest to deport some of those of whom you speak but were thwarted by do-gooders and The Human Rights Act and/or the European Court system!

Despite his idiotic protest, which is quite tame compared to those who wear masks and throw petrol bombs - up until this post, I had never heard of him or his organisation ... has he actually achieved anything and/or made a difference for the better?

Just a member of 'elitist' talking shops with an overinflated opinion of their own importance who rail against others they regard as elitist.

I doubt he has ever had anything to do with those he purports to support.

As for his pathetically childish ideas for ways others should take in order to protest, they are positively laughable.

If you work in a restaurant where elitists eat, can you serve the food once it is cold or cook the wrong food?
