ATOS - Telling lies, all the way to the end

So ATOS want out of their contact with the DWP to run the grossly unfair 'Fit for Work' program

They filled the media yesterday with stories of woe, about threats to staff etc, as  the reason they want out

--------------------------

The Government and  especially Iain Duncan Smiths DWP are furious about the announcement

WHY ?

Because if you 'were in the know' , you already knew ( about 10 days ago) that IDS and the DWP, had a great Plan to save face and gain some street cred ( don't laugh at the back).

They were all ready to dump ATOS from this contract, in a massive media jamboree and try to blame ATOS (yes they deserve blame, but not all of it) for ALL the ills of this despicable scheme, in an attempt to keep the spotlight off, more failures with the new Universal credit roll out and the continuing onslaught from Charities, Church People and even some of their own MPs on this vote loser.

So looks like the leak from inside the DWP reached ATOS Boardroom, as well as campaigners

And they decided to jump before they were pushed, I've heard IDS is apoplectic, they stole his thunder

---------------------------------

It is despicable that Cameron, IDS, Osborne and others are deflecting criticisms in their cuts to Benefits by saying Universal Credit will cover the cuts, it might do, but it will be years before it is in place and, the harm to the poorest is happening NOW

rant over

Re: ATOS - Telling lies, all the way to the end

If a new government is votesd in ,how is universal credit going to continue ? wont the new elected want a new name and system ?

What if the reason they are voted out is because of universal credit ? how can it take longer to deal with than time in power lol

I read somewhere IDS was considering charging to appeal a decision.

Just checked the Benefits and Work website which says that the Ministry of Justice are thinking of brining in a charge of £250 to appeal and a charge of £950 if a claimant wants an appeal hearing.  This is absolutely ludicrous.

Re: ATOS - Telling lies, all the way to the end

knowing full well you cannot afford to appeal as you have no money ..hence the appeal lol ministry of injustice ,if this carries on (and it looks like it will) you will have areas of feral starving people wandering the streets...which says it all really in 2014.

Lost and war springs to mind

Vulnerable man starved to death after benefits were cut

The family of a man who starved to death four months after his benefits were cut off has called on the government to reform the way it treats people with mental health problems when it assesses their eligibility for benefits.

Mark Wood, 44, who had a number of complex mental health conditions, died at his home last August, months after an Atos fitness-for-work assessment found him fit for work. This assessment triggered a decision by the jobcentre to stop his sickness benefits, leaving him just £40 a week to live on. His housing benefits were stopped at around the same time.

The Oxfordshire coroner, Darren Salter, said that although it was impossible to identify the cause of death, it was probably "caused or contributed to by Wood being markedly underweight and malnourished". He weighed 5st 8lbs (35kg) when he died; his doctor said his body mass index was not compatible with life.

Wood, of Bampton, Oxfordshire, was not told his housing benefit and employment and support allowance (ESA) had been stopped, and struggled to survive on the £40-a-week disability allowance that remained. He was reluctant to ask relatives for help and they were unaware his benefits payments had been removed until shortly before he died.

Concerned about his patient's condition, Wood's doctor, Nicholas Ward, wrote a letter for Wood to pass to the jobcentre in support of his benefits application, stating that he was "extremely unwell and absolutely unfit for any work whatsoever".

The DWP still maintain, no errors were made in this case

It is time the DWP (and the companies they use)  Bring in REAL Mental health experts to assess , vulnerable People.

GPs can't even recognise underlying problems, so what chance have untrained assessors or the DWP staff, who then check the standard forms of ticked boxes, they receive from these assessors.

This is a national disgrace, but IDS refuses to even discuss this

Re: ATOS - Telling lies, all the way to the end

whats a few deaths when he's forced slave employment upon thousands (all worse off than they ever would be if real jobs and oppertunity were being created instead of forced labour)

Money is now used as a weapon against people, this should never have been allowed ,it's 2014 not 1632 ,it's shameful on so many levels nobody knows where to begin making it right again.

This governments plan is to make this country not fit to live in if you have less than 24.000 a year .the master plan to accomplish this is attack the ill and vunerable (real Great British at work there lol) The government is less than useless and companies like ebay hold bigger dividends on the world front that could allow fair back into the world of work, but alas 10p counting will always be more important, after all the sun goes out in 5 million years so we all know how important 10p is 🙂

Its a shame this commons debate is the joke you all see,the place should always be full 6 days a week on their wages, and the leaders (ha) should be at every debate.

I know what he means on that clip about 9 people fighting for help 20yrs ago to todays hundreds ..it should not be happening as he says money is no object in todays world so whats the problem ?

I know .
