I saw a headline in the Daily Mail "Are aliens trying to contact Earth?".

It turns out that an object in space is emitting regular pulses of radio waves and X-rays but it's about 15,000 light years away. Now, scientists are puzzled but have several scientific theories about what it might be but attempted alien contact certainly isn't one of them.

Why do newspapers have to invent "clickbait" headlines when thinking logically, such pulses are probably going out in all directions and 15,000 years ago the occupants of this planet were hardly up from cavemen? Any signal we sent back would take so long to get there, by that time those on Earth might have destroyed it by then?

It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.
Live long and prosper.

Yes, and articulate speech is not repetitive regular pulses. Readers of the Daily Mail expect that their diet of Society scandals is varied with a bit of pseudoscience. What message could we send these "aliens" fifteen thousand years in the future that they would understand and be interested in? Our sun will be a tiny speck at 15,000 light years distance so what sort of radio transmitter would we need to be heard?
