A bit of snow?

We get a bit of snow and the country grinds to a halt?

Countries that get loads of snow must be laughing their socks off at the way the UK behaves when an inch of snow falls?

Re: A bit of snow?

It's snowing again here, it was thawing earlier.

There's a couple of lethal looking icicles hanging from above the window.

Re: A bit of snow?

It depends where you look Al. There's a huge drift in my back yard, I can't get to my workshop.

This weather system's having its last throw of the dice I think. There was more snow after 11 last night, that melted off the road (probably due to the salt). Then more came and went off the road. When I got up this morning it was all covered again but I can see it sliding off the parked cars now so it's starting to go.

Re: A bit of snow?

The sun is out down here in South Wales..it's beautiful, and seems much much warmer than the past few days. The snow is melting fast, so we may be able to get the car out tomorrow. The lovely thing is, with the sun being out, the birds are actually singing their little heads off! It's so lovely to hear..like they are celebrating still being alive after their recent hard times.

Re: A bit of snow?

The roads here are practically clear now, it has gone really warm. I was able to get my car off its park spot and the side road we're on with no problems at all.  The main stuff that's left is the drifts and where the snow has been cleared into piles.

I have found though that many of our locals when clearing their bits has left piles of it on the paths, I do think it most inconsiderate as there are a lot of elderly and others who need to use the paths, now have to dodge mounds of dirty snow and chunks of ice.

Still if it carries on thawing quickly hopefully it will be gone by tomorrow xx

No sun here but obviously much milder the way the ice is melting.

Re: A bit of snow?

Yes, it's melted at a terrific rate. The lane's all clear here now and my piles of snow are shrinking fast. The drift in my back yard preventing me getting to my workshop is a little slower in shrinking though.

Re: A bit of snow?

I've already seen "The Big Thaw" in the media, it'll be flooding next if it's not wiped out by "news" from the Oscars?

Re: A bit of snow?

Snow outside (not the drifts) has shrunk for over 12in to less than 3in overnight

Schadenfreude struck here yesterday -

A group of Fit and able neighbours, were out yesterday clearing the road, in front of 'their OWN' houses. The houses of the OAPs and disabled on the street, were ignored and left.

They all seemed pleased with themselves as they joked talked and went back indoors

Imagine my Joy when about 20mins later, a council tractor, with a bucket fitted, came and cleared the rest of the street

Re: A bit of snow?

No still out there and no drink either!

Anyway, the drift had melted to a few inches so I shoved it out of the way, moved the snow off the steps and got the door open. I've done the job I was wanting to do so that's sorted now.

Re: A bit of snow?

It rained last night and there's only a lump of snow left of that drift. Just a bit of snow down the side of my workshop. Soon be all gone. Spring's here grinning
