A Charity craft project.

Are there any crafters/needlewomen (or men!) on here who would like to take part in a Charity craft project? It's for Combat Stress, a very worthy cause.

Just a brief outline......

During WW1 injured soldiers were given stuffed calico hearts, which they then decorated and sent home to their loved ones. Some of these hearts survive to this day and are beautiful and valued objects. As 2018 is the centenary of the end of WW1, the project is to make 1,568 (one for every day of the war) replica hearts, and exhibit them in exhibitions. A catalogue will be produced to show every heart. You make your donation and you are sent a stuffed calico heart, pins, templates etc, to help you decorate your heart.

If anyone would like to know more, please visit WWW.WW1hearts.co.uk. All the information is there, together with ideas and instructions on how to decorate your heart. There are also photographs of some of the original antique hearts. Go on...have a look!
