If the problem is the site is lagging, that is a problem for every user trying to bid, and you may want to adjust your bidding strategy so you don't miss a chance to place a bid. If the problem is not happening for everyone, you may want to figure out why it is happening for you and not for others so you can avoid it yourself.

If you are having problems bidding at the end of an auction, make sure your device's time is synchronized to an online time server.

Check your computer's time here:

https://time.is/

If your computer's time is too fast or too slow, that can prevent you from bidding at the end of an auction. Either your computer will think the auction is over when it is not, preventing you from bidding, or else you will think you have more time left when the auction is about to end. Neither situation helps you. Set your computer's time to automatically synchronize to prevent this from happening.

Try bidding your maximum amount once as late in the auction as you can comfortably do so without risking waiting too long and missing out entirely. If your maximum amount is a round number, try adding a few odd cents or pence to avoid a tie which would go to the earlier bidder.

You could use an ad blocker.  I have no idea why or how people put up with ads flickering away on webpages.  I use Opera browser with ad block turned on and I never see an ad anywhere.  You have to take responsibility for your own browsing experience not expect someone else to do it for you.
