Hi,
Have an odd situation.
My ebay payments were paid out to me and then, 2 days later, my fees were due. Ebay sent me an email saying that they would take payment from my bank on a certain date but alternatively, I could make a manual payment.
I went to my ebay account and clicked on the pay now using my business bank account as the source for the payment. This is an account that I have held for 20+ years and which had far and away more money in it than was required for me fees.
Overnight, I have received a message from ebay saying that the payment failed and, as a result, they have removed this account as a payment source for ebay. I checked my payments account and sure enough they have now taken the payment from my payments balance.
So here is the issue: I phoned my bank and asked why they did not allow the payment and after checking my account and speaking to account security, the bank have stated that no attempt was ever made to take the payment.
Does anyone know what is going on?

I've checked for you and I can confirm we did try, and the failed transaction is showing in your account as well in case you would like to take a further look. Actually, there is a reference number for the transaction in case you want to raise it further with your bank. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you why it failed, as banks normally do not disclose this information with us due to privacy reasons.

I saw on my account that it said payment failed but the bank even got account security to check and they are clear that no payment was refused.
Isn't technology great!
I guess I'll just chalk it up to experience and hope that if I ever need to make a payment in the future, it works better.
