The mistake you’ve made there is believing everyone is as honest as you are.
you’ve been given correct advice that I can see.
if you paid by bank transfer for a car advertised on eBay. You have no more protection than if that car were advertised in a phone box on a piece of paper. Bank transfer is perfectly valid - but you should see the car first, then pay.

so anyone on Ebay (bidding) is advised not to participate if the vehicle is

I have had cars for sale myself on ebay, but being as I consider myself to
be honest, I have sold without the buyer viewing, ie I am in Essex have
sold to France Scotland and Ireland. No problem
No that's not what I said. It doesn't matter where the vehicle is, the advice is not to pay before you see the vehicle.

You are misreading what people are posting.

They win. They share contact details. If they are happy with the car. They pay cash on collection (or bank transfer at that point when they have seen the car). All listings in the Cars and vehicles section should state Cash on Collection as the payment method.
that’s not moronic.
big problem though is making a bank transfer to someone you don’t know for something you’ve never seen.
to stress eBay won’t do anything. You can report the seller, but eBay likely won’t act unless they get several reports. If you are quick to report it, your bank might.
