So much wasted space on eBay pages, why?

For the past few years now, each " improvement" to eBay it seems more options are hidden away, in favour of dead, useless white space. It is particularly ridiculous in seller hub when using a device in portait mode, because so much priority is given to dead, useless white space you have to scroll the page horizontally to see all the columns. I get that the minimal, simplified, dumbed down look is popular, but at least allow people with to opt out of it. IMG_4814.jpeg

Would I be right to think that the pic is of List View on a browser on a tablet?

If so the whitespace on the left is the area below the filtering options - I for one prize easy access to these on my desktop.

The eBay app designed for tablets and phones hides the filter controls behind a blue button and gives more control of the screen realestate and may be a better way to go.  Likewise using the List/Gallery switch and customise cog might give you more compact displays where the full title is less crucial.
