Hello, when I try to list an item I get as far as pressing the 'list for free' button, then I'm presented with a message which says 'We've encountered an issue on our end'
Live chat is never open when I try to get help with this. What can I do?
Thanks.

You haven't sold for a while so make sure you're set up for ebay's managed payments. Details here:

Not sold for more than a year ... Something in the account setup is missing/incomplete ... using a PC/Laptop, recheck to include Current UK Banking (High Street) account and Card details on file in order to send and receive payments through Managed Payments. >

I think you may be prevented from listing an item, because you have not fully or correctly registered with eBay's Managed Payments.
You need to provide eBay with details of a bank account and have this account verified. The usual method here, is for eBay to send 2 micro deposits into that nominated bank account for you to receive, and confirm to eBay.
Once this is completed, you will be able to list items for sale, and receive payouts from those sales.
This will show you how to register for eBay's Managed Payments.

If there is an issue with the registration contact eBay Customer Services, who have full access to your account, and can see where the issue lies and explain the steps you now need to take.
If you couldn't reach Customer Services before their lines open later on weekends at 9 a.m. so they're open now, however I'm sure registering for Managed Payments is the issue here , once registered you'll be all set to sell.
If you do need to reach Customer Services, the easiest and quickest way to contact Customer Services is through this link, for a Call Back .

On weekdays lines open between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Weekends lines open between 9 a.m. to 6p.m.
I would also recommend waiting until tomorrow morning and contact them very first thing at 8 a.m. when the lines first open, as there's more chance of Dublin answering.

Ok, ebay haven't been very helpful, I managed to get into chat with an agent, who said there's an outstanding fee to pay (I haven't sold in years though), but my account doesn't show this. The agent says that, then instantly leaves the chat, every time. So I can't get anywhere.......

That's it then I suppose..............well there are other avenues, which is why eBay have started to allow people to sell for free, that's my only option as eBay won't even discuss this mystery with me!

Try CS again they have access to your account and can see what this fee is and explain how to pay it so you can get up and running again.

I've done the phone call, they said they'd get tech support to call me, no one has ever called me back and online chat always close the conversation right before I get the chance to ask what the payment is about, as my account balance is 0, so I know nothing about it.
Thanks for the responses, but I'll leave it be now, if eBay's customer service plays like that, it's not a game I'm willing to take part in.
Thanks.
