I'm having trouble with ebay being so slow i accept an offer did not show as sold 10 minutes later somebody put a bid in on the same item that's already been sold and is still listed

Did the person who made the offer pay up when you accepted the offer? If he/she did pay for the item but for some reason the listing is still showing up as though the item is still for sale, despite payment having been made, then it may be better to cancel the bid and end the listing, citing "Error In Listing" as the reason why. If, however, the person who made you the Best Offer did not pay up after you accepted the offer then it may have been the case that he/she was offline at the time and didn't notice that you had accepted his/her offer.
Although I no longer sell on eBay, from what I've been reading on the forums lately eBay have recently changed the rules so that if somebody makes you a Best Offer the item will remain listed for sale unless the buyer pays for the item. If no payment is forthcoming then other people can submit Best Offers or, as in your case, submit a bid on the auction, in which case the Best Offer function will vanish from the listing.
If the person who made the Best Offer didn't pay after you accepted the offer and bids have now come in for the item then the only other option for the person who made you the Best Offer would be to submit a bid in the auction and see if he/she can win the item. However, although you may end up receiving quite a few bids, there is no guarantee that the winning bid will be equal to or greater than the Best Offer that you received and accepted.

I'm having this exact problem too. An offer accepted earlier and the item is still listed. So someone can bid even though it's technically been sold. Not yet paid for and I've contacted the buyer to say the offer was accepted but yet to hear back.
Another item I accepted an offer on has had its "payment processing - will be done in a few minutes" has so far not processed after 3 hours.
Think eBay is having a glitch? Hopefully sorted soon.

The second one sounds like a glitch but the first is a new procedure that eBay has introduced whereby the items aren't deemed sold, and remain available for others to buy, until the buyer actually pays for them.
The items are placed into the buyer's basket rather than their purchases and are shown to sellers as pending orders. If the buyer doesn't pay within 24 hours then they are automatically cancelled.

Does anybody know what would happen in the event that a buyer had a Best Offer accepted and paid up quickly, but due to an eBay glitch the payment still hadn't shown up as having been processed within twenty-four hours? Would the sale be deemed void and the item still available for other buyers to purchase?
