Ebay Community Search on android.

When I try to use the search field on the Ebay Community Pages (and only those pages) using android devices it behaves strangely and tries to refresh the field/page with every character typed, tested this on two Samsung tablets with Chrome and the Samsung browser also my Samsung A14 phone and an older Lenovo tablet. It makes the search of the community on android impossible.

If I go to a Win 11 PC and Chrome I can see what is happening, as you type into the search field a box appears under the search field which updates with  each character typed giving items found for what you have typed so far - see attached screen shot. This works on my PC's browser but totally kills the Community search on any of my Android devices.

I don't know when this new search "feature" was introduced but I suspect it wasn't tested on all platforms. Can it be sorted?

Ebay Community Search on android.

I just tried a community search on my Lenovo android tablet and it's not just you.

When typing the area where eBay starts to guess what subject posts you are searching for is visible for a moment then disappears. It's like a distracting contant flicker.

But once I've fully typed my what I'm searching for and pressed search button the suggested posts do appear.

With my tablets it made it very difficult to completely type the search in, it may be that the box displayed is in conflict with the virtual keyboard, more than a flicker more like a page refresh. I use my tablets in landscape and phones portrait but they were both impossible.

Ebay Community Search on android.

Just tried to do a new message on this community using my android tablet  and had the same strange problem when I tried to fill in the Subject field however no problem with this message box. I ended up having to us my MacBook as it was impossible on android to enter the Subject.    There is something about the formatting of both the search and the subject field, possibly other fields as well.  Something has changed it didn't used to be like this.

Hi subminman, thanks for your post.

We can definitely report this no problem, I will try using the screenshot you attached above, but the tech team will probably need a screen recording to see the actual behavior of the page. I will report this now, but if you could send me a DM with the recording of your screen when you can, I would highly appreciate it.

Thank you,

Marco

Will try to capture something however it is to do with the box that appears under the search and the subject field that is giving results of the search so far based on the characters entered, it updates every character and that is causing the problem.   No problem on my Mac or PC using Chrome but it lets me see the box that refreshes. .

It is the box that says " posts similar to your subject"  and refreshes every time you type a character, it just doesn't work properly on an android platform. I don't have an IPhone so can't test on one.

I am an ex IT developer and Consultant and can imagine what is going on.

Thanks

Hi subminman, thanks for your reply.

If you click on insert video, you should be able to send your screen recording. There is an option for YouTube, but that's something different. The option I am referring to looks like the screenshot I've attached below.
