Cannot make purchases due to captcha

Every time I get to checkout and select payment method, but before I can even pay, the page reloads and displays a captcha for "security". When I solve it, the page reloads with another captcha. This repeats endlessly.

 

This has been happening since April. I did a live chat who said they'd forward the issue to the technical team and that I could expect a resolution within the week. It has now been 1 and a half months.

 

I have tried different web browsers (Edge, Chrome, Firefox), including without any add-ons like ad blockers, and recently I happened to reinstall Windows. It is still happening.

 

I somehow managed to make one purchase in late April, but I cannot at all now.

 

Other individuals in the same house on the same connection have no issues with their accounts.

 

I would really like to actually be able to make purchases.

 

I cannot find any way to contact eBay about this. No option for technical support and no email address. And as I said, live chat did say they'd fix it but nothing has happened.

Can you make a purchase using a private or incognito browser window?

 

Can you make purchases using the eBay app?

 

Can you make a purchase on ebay.com or ebay.ca?

 

Can you make purchases as a guest? If buying as a guest works, that might indicate a problem with your account, specifically.

 

You may want to try contacting eBay via Instagram direct message.

Thanks for your help. I set up the app, and was able to buy something successfully.

I then tried on the computer again, and it gets further, but PayPal fails. Bizarre!

This happens occasionally and has been going on for a year or two. It always sorts itself out within a week or so.

It's probably either due to our computers having updated themeselves or (more likely) ebay meddling with their software, making something incompatible.

I just message the seller to explain and apologise for a possible delay in payment due to an ebay glitch, and try again every day until it works.

Just another of the many annoyances that make up the "customer experience" of using ebay these days...
