I'm also a big dog lover and refuse to get a dog.

I strongly beleive that animals are happiest when together in the wild which is their natural home.

In the wild they can take a walk or do a toilet whenever they want, they get to be with their family, not being bread for people's pleasure and keept at home alone.

I haven't seen the ad yet but it's just another example of Ebay not knowing their own policies.

I've not seen the Ad yet either but maybe it's a subliminal message?

"eBay. It's a dog..."

Just a thought.

Or maybe there's another subliminal message going on:  "Selling on eBay - it's a bich."

I totally agree! Felt the same. I didn't think it was funny AT ALL.

There seems to be an awful lot of faux outrage about eBay's latest ad and I think a lot of people have missed the point.

I actually saw the the ad for the first time last night. When the girlfriend looks at the dog at the end of the advert the voiceover is "Don't even think about it". Granted, it doesn't specifically state that animals cannot be sold on eBay but the voiceover infers that, whilst at the same time attempting to inject an element of humour; attempting being the operative word.

It's probably supposed to be funny but it's not. Perhaps eBay are using an advertising agency with extremely low fees. Perhaps they're using their own in-house advertising trainee. I have no idea, but it was certainly on a par with previous eBay ads I've seen: amateurish.

"......... but it was certainly on a par with previous eBay ads I've seen: amateurish." - But then again it was aimed specifically at that type of seller audience .... 'amateurish'.

lighten up - it is just tongue in cheek humour - ebay are not suggesting you sell your partners dog on ebay,

Neither is the advert cruel to animals, promoting pet theft, or any other perverse thought that you may have  -

Why not take a look at the dogs trust adverts which also use humour -  would you also suggest that the dogs used in the advert are being ill treated or is it just an ebay thing !

Wasn't it The Dogs Trust which used to use the strap-line "We never put a healthy dog down"?

Their arms must get very tired...

: )

Well I think its great.  The music is perfect and I love the expressions on their faces.  Makes me smile every time.

I find this advert offensive as there is nothing comical about considering an animal as an object that could be sold! Ebay is to sell objects! A dog is a sentient being! Remove this advert asap! It's RUBBISH!

It is the way your mind works - I thought it was the dog bed the lady in the advert was looking at - some people just think the worst !

I doubt there is a bigger animal lover in the world than me and I think the ad is very good and very witty.

Maybe some people take things a bit too seriously. I especially love the tiger lamp she has her eye on. . .

Reminds me of that awful advert where they fed a squirrel lager and made it do an assault course.

awful thing to do

Best advert ever - did more for squirells being accepted in gardens than any wildlife program - even though grey squirrels are officially vermin.

I don't think the squirell was given lager to drink - that's just a myth perpertrated by misguided individuals.

A bit like the ebay advert where the lady eyes up the dog's bed - yet some people who want to knock ebay make out the lady was looking at the dog ! Perverse !
