paypal postage labels not accepted at postoffice

Is there a reason why some post offices won't process prepaid Paypal  Royal Mail postage labelled packages?  The tracking number seems to come up automatically on Sold listing of the item on ebay when the label is purchased so is there a need for a paper Post Office receipt anyway to prove posting?  Advice please.

My local Post Offices accept packages with prepaid PayPal postage labels with no problem. It's Royal Mail postage, which Post Offices are supposed to accept. And they presumably get paid a fee by Royal Mail for doing so, just as they do when you buy postage labels direct from Royal Mail, so your Post Office is shooting itself in the foot. If I were you, I would lodge a complaint about your PO with Royal Mail.

 

Yes, you need a Proof of Posting receipt. You will need one to lodge a claim with Royal Mail for loss or damage in transit. Without one, you will not be able to lodge such a claim, but you will have to refund the buyer in full.

 

Plus, proof of delivery will not save you in the event of an Unauthorised Account Use claim - a POP is the only thing a payment processor will accept for such a claim. If you don't have one, not only will you automatically lose the claim, you'll be charged a hefty admin fee into the bargain (I believe it's around £18 or so). And note that UAU claims can be made for up to 13 months, because many people only receive their bank or card statements annually, so you should keep all your POPs for at least that long.
