Yes I did think that but my listing has had just 10 views after 6 days in the designated listing as advised by ebay, I'm going to pass my findings on to an independent investigator just to make sure, my thinking is that the max listing is for a designated level, above which listings are not readily seen somehow. Sadly money is the driving factor in most things now and £1 max fee for something selling for perhaps £1000 seems unlikely to me. To be honest I have no problem paying ebay fees but I hate wasting time with spurious ways to get you to sell with them especially knowing that you will relist when it doesn't sell hence pyng full fee.

I wouldn't have thought so.  The £1.00 Maximum Listing Fee is designed to encourage sellers to list items for sale on the site.  The less visible an item is on the site the more chance there is that the item will remain unsold when the listing ends.  Unsold items don't result in any selling fees for eBay, so why would eBay deliberately make such listings less visible to potential buyers?  If they were to do that then they'd be reducing the revenue that they made from sales, which is counterproductive to how the business operates.

ebay don't 'demote' £1 final value fee listings as such, but because so many people use the offer the listings do get swamped,

also the 'offer' listings are shown below listings that sellers pay to have promoted.
