does a buyer contact eBay to say they have received there item or do they let the seller know?

If an item says it has been dispatched but not delivered, how can I leave a feedback when I don't know if they have received it yet. Also does a buyer let eBay know they have received the item or not or does the postal service say they have delivered it? How does it work?

Neither. There is no need. Buyers will only make contact after placing an order if the order doesn't arrive, or arrives damaged, faulty, or not as described. They should do that by opening the relevant Ebay case or return request so that you can deal with the issue as Ebay requires you to.

Go to the Seller Centre for full information on everything you need to know about selling here (link at foot of any page), and read Ebay's Money Back Guarantee (on every listing and in various other places across the site) so that you know how buyers are covered, and what your responsibilities are.

Finally, feedback is entirely voluntary (and many sellers don't leave it for buyers at all as it can only ever be positive). Plus, it is not there to thank a buyer for paying. They could turn out to be the buyer from hell. So don't leave feedback for a buyer until they've left it for you. Note too that many buyers are 'feedback harvesters', and will have no incentive to leave any for you if you leave it first.

No know one informs anyone. You only hear from the Buyer if they Claim Not Received or Item Not As Described. You ask them to use the EBay Money Back Guarantee and deal with the dispute.

They may leave you Feedback. But not all Buyers do.

Always add Tracking to Dispatch when you Post an Item. That stops Buyers Claiming Item Not Received. You would any Dispute if you have Tracking which confirms Delivery.
