Zero selling limit on personal account

Hi,

I have a personal selling account, and yet my limit is set as 0 which means I can't sell anything! I've been going round and round in circles trying to increase it (it won't let me), and to work out why (have read a few things but they all seem to relate to business accounts, and mine is definitely a personal account as I checked my settings, so I'm none the wiser).

A few years ago when I started the account I listed an item that never sold, then when I tried to list another I had so many problems that I eventually gave up and I'm only just trying again now. I seem to remember back then that I may have had an issue with my paypal account, but that is now all up to date and accurate so I don't think that can be the problem now?

I feel like I need to speak to someone at ebay but I can't find a phone number that gets through to a human, or even an instant chat option. I'm remembering why I gave up trying last time!

Please can anyone help?? I feel like I'm going crazy!!

If you want to speak to somebody at eBay Customer Service click on the Help & Contact link that appears at both the top and the bottom of this page.  Upon clicking the link a new page will load up.  Scroll right down to the bottom of the page and look for the mobile phone icon that appears beneath the words "Need more help?  Have us call you."  Click on the mobile phone icon and you should receive a call from eBay Customer Service, at which point you can explain what's gone wrong.  With a bit of luck the person you're speaking with may be able to work out what's gone wrong and either fix the problem for you, or in the event that you need to provide eBay with any additional information in order to get your selling account working properly, then they should be able to tell you what information you need to provide them with so as to resolve the problem.

Thank you for this. Unfortunately it is saying 'we're currently closed', both on the instant messenger service and the call back service, even though the business hours are listed as mon-sun, 5am - 9.30pm 😞

It sounds as if you need to link or relink your PayPal account. I believe you need to do that in both Ebay and PayPal accounts.

If you continue to have problems, Help & Contact is at top and foot of any page. You can't currently phone Ebay (Covid staff shortgaes), but Live Chat and Request-a-Callback are available.

Thanks for this, but my accounts already seem to be linked? On my Ebay account under 'PayPal account' It says:

''Buying and selling on eBay
- Buying on eBay: Your eBay account is linked to this PayPal account for purchases: s...d@gmail.com Unlink accounts.
Important: If you remove the link between your eBay and PayPal accounts, you'll have to go through a few extra steps each time you buy items from sellers who require a confirmed PayPal account as their payment method.
- Selling on eBay: You specify the payment method you accept from buyers when you list items for sale. See and update your selling preferences on eBay.''

Should I unlink PayPal from my buying account and then relink it? Or do I need to do something somewhere else??

On my 'selling preferences' page it says:

''Offer PayPal on my listings No
Display "PayPal Preferred" on my listings No
Accept credit/debit card payments to my merchant credit card account. No''

...but there is no option to change those settings that I can see?

Thank you for helping... I have tried to contact Ebay but both the instant chat and 'we'll call you back' options are saying they are closed, even though it is within business hours 😞

I've just seen an option to verify my PayPal account - is that what I need to do??

Yes. You need a verified PayPal account to sell here.
