I have been selling on eBay for several years, but this month, eBay has started charging an additional 20% VAT on top of the list price. This additional fee isn't made obvious to the buyer until the final step, right before they click "pay", and consequently I've had a complaint from a recent customer who claims he didn't see the fee until after paying (he obviously just wasn't paying attention). Is this normal? Why didn't eBay tell me about this?
Don't blame eBay.
This was decided years ago and implemented àt the begining of January.

This article seems to indicate that the changes only apply to cross-border imports. However, eBay is adding VAT to items I'm selling within the UK. Surely this is a mistake?
EDIT: Is it possible that the reason eBay is adding VAT to my domestic sales is because my account was created on the eBay.com site, and not ebay.co.uk?
