Sold a vehicle - The buyers "positive" feedback is actually negative, saying they are a scammer

I've sold a vehicle and when the auction ended I sent the buyer a message to arrange collection. At this point, I noticed that the positive feedback my buyer had was actually messages like "bids on items but has no intention in buying! STAY AWAY!" and "beware SCAMMER".

At this point I thought the auction was a lost cause, however the buyer has now contacted me after two days saying "Sorry for the delay, I need your mobile contact to match the day and time to the collect the bike can it be??"

I feel cautious to give them my number given their feedback but on the other hand, maybe they're just confused about how eBay works?

If I decide I don't feel safe proceeding with the sale, what is the best option?

Thanks for any advice, it's very much appreciated.

It does help having a phone number when arranging for collection.

Just make sure you get cash only for payment. Don't get involved with haggling. May help having a friend with you if you feel uncomfortable.
