Received warning from ebay over prohibited item

Hi all.

Having an issue with Ebay, and I've yet to have an answer back to me from them when I questioned the reasons.

I've recently sold 2 Butchers Meat Cleavers. Sold on about 10th or so of this month(Nov 2020)

I listed them, they say a while, and had a conversation with a nice buyer, and we agreed a price, sold, delivered and left feedback, at least on my side.

Then I get an email from ebay saying these are prohibited, although the reason was listed as 'Chef's Knives'. And a strongly worded 'Do this again and your account will be suspended.

I got right onto this and after a bit of a hunt got the customer helpline phone number, gave it a call and they called me back.

I pointed out that the cleavers I sold aren't actually a proohibited item, and not only that, but there were 9 currently for sale, and about 20 having sold over the last few months.

The operator, though very nice couldn't give me any sort of item, though I asked him to type ' Butchers cleaver' into search and he could see for himself the ones currently and in sold listings.

He could offer up no reason, other than to repeat they'd been removed as a prohibited item, though did say this is recorded and the 'board' would look at it and the others for sale, and sold. All seemed a bit vague and didnt fill me with confidence this would be loked into.

Butchers cleavers are still being listed and still being sold to this day, last I see was on the 17/11/2020.

So if we look at completed listings, they're all there except mine which has been removed comletely. Mine only it apears. Not being paranoid lol, but when you see them stiull for sale anmd still being sold and you have been given a warning for selling them while others are still being listed and sold that strikes me as a complete farce.

I basically want ebay to recognize theres an error on their part and reinstate my sold items and remove the '"Warning" from my account.

Anyone any idea ho wto go about. Quite happy to set all these concerns and details, along with every listing sold, for sale to them so they can see exactly for themselves that mine is equal to these and should never have been removed.

Thanks all for your time, and hopefully to whichcever ebay employee happens by and can see how odd it all is.

Tootle pip :D.

You cannot list these types of products here. Ebay's Policies pages are very clear. That's where you go to find out what can and can't be sold here. You don't learn what can be listed here by checking to see what's listed! There are lots of items listed here that breach the rules and the law.  You also have the Seller Centre to refer to, which provides full information on everything to do with selling on the UK site. No point in contacting CS, as they are based in The Philippines and have no clue about UK or any other country's laws. You are supposed to read the clear information Ebay supplies, and abide by it.

The reason the others are still here is because they either haven't been reported yet, or Ebay hasn't got round to removing them yet.  There's a 'Report' button on ever listing, so you should use it. Ebay has to mainly rely on us, its users, to report rogue listings to them, as they simply don't have the resources to police a site on which millions of items are listed every day. It would be an impossible task.
