"First of all, I want to apologize for the inconvenience caused by the carrier with regard to your shipment.
As you probably know eBay Delivery does not handle shipments - as we are not a transport company - therefore we are not directly involved with the collection and/or delivery of parcels. Delays, damage and any type of disruption with your parcels are always imputable to the carrier you have chosen to deliver your parcels."
The above is the exact quote from the reply by PACKLINK to my complaint over a missing order that I sent via them with Hermes. The parcel got from Scotland to London in 2 days but, according to the tracking has been in the "local depot" being sorted for the past 6 days.
The obvious question is if PACKLINK have nothing to do with anything why are they involved in the process at all ?.
What exactly is it that PACKLINK do ?.
Why can EBAY not deal directly with HERMES directly ?.
As for contacting HERMES ?.....well I asked my local HERMES delivery person on Saturday about this and he could give me no suggestions. They have depot's all over the country but no contact numbers for any of them.
No email address.
No on line contact form.
No on line claims form.
Not even a postal address to write to.
I think we ,and EBAY,all know this already and I'm sure the majority of sellers, would agree that what is needed is a "REPORT PARCEL MISSING OR NOT DELIVERED " button in the sales drop down menu.
Look at how easy it is to report and claim for lost parcels with Royal Mail.OK you have to wait 10 days but once claim is made on line your'e refunded full value + postage in 2 -4 days.
It's still a farce and it's sellers who are losing out big time.
As far as I understand this stupid system, Pack link is who you claim on, if necessary. Hermes is employed by tem and is not responsible to you.
Why it is considered necessary to go through Ebay, to Packlink (who don't know the rules) for item to be passed on to Hermes I don't know. It only takes one Company to deliver and if you want to use Hermes go direct, at least you know who to blame when something goes wrong.
if you have the time read this to see how it is supposed to work and who is responsible -
I would never use any service that involves ebay and other Companies. (Like Click & collect) too many links where the system can go wrong.
