Invoice sent to buyers, system does not allow them to pay when they press Pay Now.

I sold a number of items on eBay last night. One buyer has attempted to pay following receiving his invoice but the system is not accepting his payment - first time said there was no postage charge on the invoice even though there is; second time said there was a fault with his address though I successfully sent him goods there a week ago.

PayPal is the payment processor, not Ebay. And PayPal was glitching last night (and may still be today), no doubt due to the huge increase in online shopping. All you can do is to tell your buyer to keep trying.

If the problem has not been resolved by the time you read my response to your query contact the buyer and suggest the following workaround option.  It's one that I've used successfully in the past to pay for items on eBay when the site has been glitching and preventing payment from being made.  The best bit is that it does not involve any form of carrying out an off eBay sale in order to ensure that you receive the money.

Contact the buyer via eBay Messages and explain that there would appear to be a glitch on the site affecting some, but not all, users when they attempt to make payment.  Suggest to the buyer that he/she logs off of eBay UK and logs onto www.ebay.com, which is the USA version of the site.  If the glitch is specific to eBay UK then your buyer may well find that by logging onto one of eBay's overseas websites he/she can bypass the glitch and make payment that way.  If the buyer find that this option works then the payment ought to reach your account and you can get the item despatched.
