Hermes lost the perfume I sold on EBay. They then claimed that, as perfume, it was a prohibited item

So, has anyone had any experience of getting anywhere with Hermes with a claim where they have lost perfume, then later claimed it was prohibited? Ie how can it be both lost and prohibited? Surely the fact that it has been lost is their fault?

I sold it at the beginning of December and refunded the buyer when it was clear that it was lost. Interestingly, the tracking for the item states that it is still in transit. I also paid insurance for it.

Has anyone had any success with getting Hermes to pay up in this situation?

perfume is on Hermes list of items they don't cover,

you shouldn't have sent it with them

they won't compensate you

Thank you for your comment. Yes, I see that, which is why I referred to it. My question is about the fact that they had first admitted that it was lost, and then changed to saying that it was prohibited.

they told you it was lost because they have lost it,


they told you it was prohibited because they don't want to compensate you for losing it

You can't claim compensation for sending something that was against there policy.
