I cant belive that ebay have increased theor "promo" selling feels from £1 to £3 .. what do you all make of this?
I make of it that if I had an item listed that I wanted over £30 for, I'd be pleased to receive the offer and consider myself lucky to be offered any sort of discount on fvf
What exactly is it you find so 'unbelieveable' about this...? Ebay can set their promotions to anything they like - it's no-one's business but theirs.
I assume this particular promotion is aimed at those selling items valued at over £30, in order to increase the listing of higher-value items. Ebay's servers are currently drowning in an ocean of tat, so most buyers will be pleased to see that Ebay is doing something useful to help counteract that and help raise the site's profile.
What I find unbelievable is that you're complaining about something you're not even entitled to. This promotion is for private sellers only, ie. those selling off their old no-longer-loved possessions from wardrobe and attic. You're clearly a business seller, so should be registered as such - not only an Ebay requirements but the law. This applies to anyone who makes, grows, refurbishes, or buys in (new and used) items to sell. Go to Ebay's Seller Centre for confirmation, and to the government's website for full infomation.
And note that there is no such thing as a 'hobby seller' in this country, and how much or how little you sell or make is totally irrelevant. You could be making a loss, but you're still a business.
Note too that consumer law states that a buyer can request a full refund from an illegally trading seller for up to one full year and 30 days, and for any reason at all and regardless of condition. And if you want the item back, you have to pay for the return. The law doesn't reward those who break it. In other words, your customers can legally use you as a free hire shop.
So I'd advise you to upgrade your account from private to business (takes seconds) as a matter of urgency, before you find yourself in deep doodoo with Ebay (for defrauding them of fees) and with Trading Standards (for denying buyers their legal rights).
