Defining the delivery settings and steps to postage

Hello guys,

I want to sell a smartphone but I'm confused about the delivery. How it works the definition of the costs? I mean, if somebody buys the item, how the cost will be calculated? Or is this something I need to define personally/manually? If I don't specify the cost, it will be defined automatically by eBay when I publish my ad?

I have "Domestic postage" defined as "Flat: same cost to all buyers" with 2 working days as dispatch time, and I would like to enable the "International Postage", but I won't accept returns. The dimensions of the package are 27 x 20 x 11 cm (larger package).

Additionally, I would like to understand what will be the steps to post the package - do I need to go to the post office? Or do we have other companies? The dispatch time is necessary because I will need more time to prepare the package and go to the right place to post it. I'm confused...

Can you help me clarify how it works and what do I need to do, please?

Note: The postage will be done from Nottingham.

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

DO NOT post Internationally. In nce in using addition to being a scammers magnet, posting overseas could cause you a great deal of problems including having to refund and losing the phone.

The very nature of your questions shows inexperience in using the post, so keep it as simple as possible and post within the UK only. Once sold you must post to the address on the Paypal Payment using tracked mail, Special Delivery if over £50.

Make sure you have actually been paid before posting and ignore any strange requests or suggestions of doing anything outside ebay.

Scammers look for high value items and inexperienced sellers, in order to get something without paying for it.

If in doubt ask on here again before you risk losing the phone.

"but I won't accept returns" doesn't mean very much now.You can only refuse to accept a return if the buyer states they have changed their mind.

If you refuse a return request made for any other reason ebay will step in and force a refund under their MBG offer.

Mobiles etc are a scam magnet.

You choose the postage method and carrier. And you must use one which covers the full cost of the item, such as Royal Mail's Special Delivery Next Day Guaranteed (which covers items valued at over £50).  Standard post is for items valued at up to £20, and Signed For is for those valued at up to £50.

Buy the postage at the Post Office if you're finding Ebay confusing  - you have to take the package there anyway, to get a Proof of Posting receipt. In any case, you don't have to buy postage on Ebay and involve Packlink, Ebay's chosen postage broker - adding a third party into the mix is rarely a good idea. I'm a business seller on another account, and have never bought my postage here.

And while you're at the Post Office, pick up a Royal Mail price guide. And get yourself kitchen scales and tape-measure or ruler. No point in listing anything on Ebay until you know what you're doing.
