Buyers email address

Hi there,

I have been told by ebay that they don't give out a buyers email address for delivery and tracking information , however when I purchase items I'm sent emails to tell me the progress of my purchase. What have I got to do to have this privileged information? Is this just for business sellers ?
regards jason

That is correct, the email address information is now not given out  under the GDPR rulings.  eBay have  all your information on joining the Company hence you receive an email from them.

If you require a buyer's email address, after purchase you can ask the buyer for this and any other contact information,  e.g. phone number,  again,  I stress,  after purchase only are you privy to this information.

Ebay cannot supply email addresses and phone numbers - unless the ebayer has given Ebay permission to do so, in which case you would see that information as it would automatically appear - as it would break strict data protection laws. The GDPR became law about a year ago, so do a web search for further info if you're interested.

Carriers do not need this information anyway. All they need is the buyer's physical address. If you're asking for this reason, leave the space blank, or key in a bunch of zeros, or make something up. Or, as a last resort, enter your own.
