Buyer just registered today buys expensive item, advice needed please.

Hi, I put up a new listing last night for a vintage bath tap set, price £120. Had 18 views, 19th viewer put on watch list, then a short while after it pops up as sold.

Just looked and this person only registered today, no qu's asked, no feedback, feels dreadfully unsafe to go ahead with sale.

Have a suspicion this person viewed it then made a new account to buy.

What if theyre planning a chargeback?

Would be sent fully tracked and insured but something doesnt feel right.

Should I cancel and risk losing a sale? Please advise x

people see things on google and register an ebay account so that they can buy the item

there is nothing unusual about this

send the item using a tracked service to the address provided with the payment

Why? Didn't you start with 0 Feedback?

Scammers don't need toopen new accounts they already have access to hacked account.

Cancelling would be inviting Negative Feedback and also the risk of getting it wrong and paying Paypal and Ebay fees. Has he paid ??

Yes has paid. Spoke to ebay who suggest phoning paypal to see if all genuine. Im going to do all I can to insure and track, just seemed a bit suspect, very unusual name, just registered then buying dear things without even asking a question.
If it was my first purchase i think i'd want to check out the seller by asking something.
Someone on another thread has just asked the same thing but her item is not so expensive.
We are bound to worry with all the clever scams invented every day

With respect, i think scammers are targeting more high end stuff rather than bath taps.
we all started somewhere and in my opinion, you can have just as much hassle with someone who has 1000 feedback as you can with none, because older ebayers are more likely to know the rules and how to `scam` sellers, so i would`nt worry till it actually happens, because whilst your covering yourself in one respect by sending tracked, if the truly want to rip you off, they will, regardless of tracking, because there is more than one way to do it 🙂
if you really uneasy about selling higher priced stuff on here, or more particularly posting them, then list as collection only for cash on collection (any Covid restrictions allowing)

My first eBay sale was to a buyer in Italy who created his account the same day. I was suspicious, but I sent the parcel untracked and he was honest when it arrived 40 DAYS later!

Some of my best sales and smoothest transactions have been from people with 0 feedback, who just register to buy the item. Just follow normal selling procedure for ebay policy and always track higher priced items.
