Buyer claimed non receipt, I refunded, Now RMail confirm delivery late BUT ebay+Paypal refuse refund

Hi, I sold an item which albeit 28 days later the buyer claimed non receipt.

When I checked the tracking it showed attempted delivery 25 days earlier with collection advice for buyer.

He said no card was left so It hadn't been picked it up.

I expected it to come back to me or get lost forever, been there got the Tee shirt So I refunded to clear the case up.

Only hours later I went to RM site to post loss claim AND guess what, it had been marked as delivered (or collected ??) so no claim there.

Ebay havent marked it as delivered (well who knew ?) all the info is there on ROYAL Mails site  BUT neither Ebay or Paypal will shoulder responsibility they say because I refunded, (You know gave the buyer there money back like the good seller they say we should be.)

I have asked and been ignored by the buyer when I asked him to return either the goods or the refund and he doesn't reply.

I'm stuffed, by all concerned ANY advice ?

Buyers can open a case for a refund if an item is overdue by even one day. Forget the pressures of covoi, or Christmas. EBay gives the seller just three working days to respond, after which the buyer can escalate the case for eBay to enforce the refund.

This is over two weeks before Royal Mail will even accept that the parcel is lost. So why can't eBay at least require the buyer to return either the refund or the item if it arrives before RM treats the parcel as lost? Until then, the seller can't even claim compensation from RM, although eBay has already made them refund the buyer.

EBay could do this, and easily. This is the company which suspends members even on suspicion of planning to evade eBay's fees. Don't let's pretend that they couldn't similarly penalise buyers who have exploited a postal delay to keep something for nothing.

The fact is that eBay simply couldn't care less about sellers.
