bladed items!

Bladed items policy has gone bananas!

I'm trying to sell a saw set and it comes up as a bladed item

It is so obviously not - what to do?

bladed items!

I sell (or used to) tins of wax specifically created to protect Bushcraft knife blades. its called Outdoorsman Leather and Knife Wax Balm - that's the product.  Every month since March eBay's AI system has been removing the listing, and every month I've spent hours getting it relisted.  It's a tin of wax!
This month I've had to spend the time twice, both times with escalations to get the ban lifted.  They haven't got back to me - fist time over two weeks, now currently a week and waiting.
I could change the listing title, but then people who need the product wouldn't be able to find it.
System sucks since AI arrived on scene.

Believe it or not (you probably do!!) I've had the same problem trying to list cutting discs for an angle grinder.

I got around it by listing it with age varified delivery but in the listing informed buyers that it will be delivered by "normal" parcel post. This is the item no 297475739248. I even deleted the word blade from the listing but it still failed. My guess is it's picking up the word "cutting"

Although one can't argue about selling bladed items without age verification delivery eBay have made a real mess of applying the rules as they obviously capture wrong items. This is a real pain as age verification delivery will put a lot of buyers off due to the fact they have to be at home to receive the parcel.

Another example of eBay at it's finest.

UPDATE

Well, I called the help line that Tressygirl (thanks) posted above and was called back in a coulpe of minutes!!! (It was 01:15). So that's a link well worth bookmarking!!
The call handler was fully understanding and said she would raise it with the listing team. What will happen now is anybodies guess!!

I'll also add that I do have a Business Account

Yes I have found them helpful on the phone but not so sure the powers behind listen to them. It seems to take an age before they put right these wrongs!

a saw or jigsaw without its blade is not a bladed article. most company's or shops just ask for ID which everyone has then ebay comes along asking for ID in the form of a credit card ? how does that work and in the UK that's not even allowed as ID what so ever.

This whole situation is ridiculous. I'm currently wanting to buy  a 1968 GPO metal Hacksaw but can't without putting in a Credit card I don't possess.

How many people have or will be killed with Hacksaw? it's hardly a lethal hunting knife or a machete! Get real Ebay, stop the ridiculous rules. I'm sure I could buy any number of things on here that could kill someone if i'd a mind to so stop the nanny state rubbish & just let people get normal everyday items, without these stupid blockers !!

You're right!

I had a saw set banned - because it was used to set teeth on a bladed item - a panel saw

So your problems are probably because item is a saw!

It is time the sorted their AI

The requirement for Shipping with Age Verification only is intended to comply with UK law (specifically the Offensive Weapons Act 2019) and to enhance community safety, and is wholly inappropriate for heavy industrial machinery. The industrial equipment I am attempting to sell weighs 170Kg and could never be considered an "Offensive Weapon". EBay is misinterpreting the Offensive Weapons Act 2019 and will force sellers to migrate to other platforms for selling industrial machinery.

With heavy equipment, shipping can only be calculated with knowledge of the buyers postcode. There is no way to give an accurate blanket cost for shipping without knowing this. EBay is misinterpreting the Offensive Weapons Act 2019 and will force sellers to migrate to other platforms for selling industrial machinery.

In the UK, eBay requires any "Bladed" item to be shipped via its own courier and to use its "Age Verification" service. If a piece of industrial equipment, such as a panel saw, has a blade or even if the blade has been removed, the seller is expected to use this shipping service. While this service might be suitable for portable items, it is not appropriate for industrial equipment. They do not permit Collection Only. From now on, I will be listing items on Facebook Marketplace instead of eBay.

Not great if it's a "Saw" that you're selling!

BTW, How do we find your Saw-Setting tool without the word saw?

Hi tressygirl

Can you suggest how sellers of industrial machinery can sell "Bladed" items if they require the eBay "Age-Verification" delivery service as a delivery option for items that weigh hundreds or even thousands of kilos and would typically be 'collection only' items? Items that weigh far too much for the suggested delivery services and could never be considered "offensive weapons".  Many items in the categories of Woodworking or Metalworking machine tools.

I will look out for your reply.

With Thanks!

The thing that baffles me is that some sellers are able to list items with "blade" in the title like this one.
