Bladed items policy has gone bananas!
I'm trying to sell a saw set and it comes up as a bladed item
It is so obviously not - what to do?

OK it is now listed - didn't mention saw anywhere and that seems to work
Thanks for all help

Yep, eBay brought in new T & C's for all bladed items, here's their announcement.
Keeping shoppers and sellers safe: Buyer age-verification for bladed items
To help keep buyers and sellers safe, we’ve expanded safety requirements for selling bladed items on ebay.co.uk, with the introduction of buyer age-verification to cover more potentially dangerous items. If you sell bladed items on ebay.co.uk, you need to:
Please note that the sale of many types of knives and bladed items is already prohibited on eBay. However, legal bladed products for sale in the UK can be sold to customers who are 18 and over. Proof of age will be required at checkout. You can learn more about adding age-verified delivery options to your listings on our Seller Centre page.

Of course I know this
BUT a saw set is NOT a bladed item and no way can it be counted as one?

Please don't shoot the messenger here, that was a new announcement, and as I do not sell these items I was politely pointing it out to you. I have sent that message to others receiving the same notification on selling those items, and they were not aware of that ruling.
If you wish to, contact eBay Customer Services if you like see what their reasoning is, on a saw not being a bladed item.
This is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

Perhaps eBay have used the dictionary definition of a saw? Which is.....
@tonytoolsnoun
a hand tool for cutting wood or other hard materials, typically with a long, thin serrated blade and operated using a backwards and forwards movement.

Sorry - wasn't trying to shoot the messenger
The only connection a saw set has with a saw is it is used to set the teeth
This ruling is like saying a leather sheath is bladed because it is used to keep a knife in - Not logical and shows complete lack of understanding!

I fully understand the frustration, I do, but if a dictionary definition describes it as a bladed item, then them there in eBay HQ Towers, CaliforNIA are acting on that, in my humble opinion.
Would changing to a Business account perhaps help? There are over 240,000 saws listed for sale, but on Business accounts.

Try a title with setting tool in it don't mention saw or blade anywhere the picture will show what it actually is.
Then fully describe it

I am trying to call them - thanks

Its entirely possible ebays rules on what is flagged and what isn't are based on categorisation level.
So if you are putting the product in DIY > Hand Tools > Saws, then its going to flag as a bladed item.
I doubt ebay will have workarounds for items in Saws that aren't actually bladed.

Will try using a differnt catgory and not mentioning saw - but this certainly won't help buyers to find it!
thanks for your suggestions

Neither will not having it listed at all.
Give it go and report back if it was accepted and which you changed try one, try the other,
then try both. See which one works for you
Your experimenting a bit unfortunately

i wanted to buy a gtech hedge trimmer which is classed as a bladed item, but i need a credit card to be able to buy it, but i do not have a credit card so i cant buy it, so the person who buys your saw set will need to verify their age using a credit card.
ebays site ,ebays rules,

That is correct, that is the only form of age verification eBay accept that you are over 18, to own a credit card. Anyone of any age can own a debit card.
If you still wish to buy this item , perhaps you could ask someone who has a credit card on their eBay account to buy this for you.

Except in UK law a hedge trimmer is not even remotely listed as a bladed item

This is eBay's explanation:

Hello Brian
This credit card business causes me no end of trouble!
I did speak to somebody from ebay when I was trying to list items that mentioned saw in the name, such as a sawset, which is obviously not a blade and they recommended me not listing it under "saws" but as a collectable tool. Can you ask the seller to relist the saw in this way?
I think ebay have got their knickers in a twist over this "bladed items"!
Good luck
