UK Private sellers simple postage

A friend has told me today that they have noticed ebay have closed a loophole in overwriting simple postage.

They used to be able to switch to custom if they had postage options set up. 

They tell this no longer appears to work. And even if they choose one of their postage options, it's being overwritten by simple postage. (which is limiting postage companies (to 2) and not offering the cheapest courier (Yodel, over a £1 cheaper)).

Anyone else experiencing the same?

I can't check this as ebay has never afforded me the option of setting up multiple postage options.

I gather there is still a way to override simple postage but I'm told it's a little more hassle and doesn't work on certain type of listings.

Simple Delivery is now mandtory on all private seller listings.   The only current exception is extra large or heavy items but even then you need a workaround to opt out.

Does that mean they have done away with opting out if the item is priced under £10 ?

I've seen anything about that, but then again I don't search ebay's policies that regularly to keep upto date.

I believe it is  weight as well as price. Basically letter size items so cards would be covered but what your selling wouldn't.

I've had several chats with customer service about weight. They seem to believe all single records weigh over 100g and are therefore a small parcel rather than a large letter (Which I believe would qualify for custom postage)
Will continue to search for work arounds, as Buyer protection fee and simple postage on a single record under £1 adds nearly £2 to the selling price.

Opting out is available in some subcategories for items no more than:

-£10.00 excluding BPF

-100g

-RM Large Letter size (including thickness)

Some people report not being able to opt out on items that in theory they should be able to - I don't know if they are doing it correctly or different accounts are working differently.

There is also a list of items not to be sent Simple Delivery; and separate restrictions by weight, size, value > £750.
