Putting polite message in listing to say you do not accept offers

I get a lot of people messaging me with offers I don't do offers.

Can you put in a polite message in your listing to say something like "This is a fixed price listing and I am not accepting offers"

Yeah but I'd say 50% of buyers don't read the description as its below 34574 adverts and then of those 50% 80% of those will still send you a message with an offer as they have nothing to lose.

Just put 'No offers' and block them when they send you one.

It might sound harsh but if you don't want offers and don't want your time wasted, there is no point answering them. But if they then buy it anyway, you don't want poor feedback 'for not answering messages' so you'll need to block them to prevent that.

It's what I always do anyway 😃

If they can't be bothered to read the description then there is a higher chance that they will find the item not as they expected anyway, and then want a refund,  so you're better off without customers like that. Even if your item then takes longer to sell you'll be getting the price that you wanted for it in the end.

I just reply: 'No, sorry.'

But I know another Seller who recommends not replying at all.

You could just delete them and forget about it.

Otherwise the tool you are looking for is within the Listing above the Description.

Custom Template > Create Template

When you use it, it will show up at the top of your Description. The one that @pegr-834437  rightly says almost no one reads anymore!

We live in a world where everything is thought to be negotiable.

Us Brits have always been less likely to negotiate on price. Conversely, in many cultures it would be unusual to pay the asking price. But I think even us Brits are becoming more likely to negotiate price, especially online; and more so when the costs of living leaves people with less "spending money".

So are you saying that you wouldn’t even accept an offer/discount of £1 off a £20 item, for example? If not, then doing as @450-262541 has suggested would probably be best for you.

The business approach would be just to politely decline offers you are not interested in. A default response of “Sorry, but I'm currently not accepting offers on this item.” would be efficient, while still keeping good with the buyer, who may then purchase at full price.

I’ve only ever not responded to an offer via message once, when their offer was only a third of the asking price. They were added to my block list!

It seems that not many will pay the full price any more unless it's a rare item at a low (bargain) price.

If it were me and i wanted £20 for an item i would list it at £30 with best offer option attached.

Potential buyers would maybe offer what i wanted so feel good "winning" and as a seller i would get what i wanted all along.

It's a mind game thing ,dopomine rules.
