Issue with size variations (W sizes) after recent update

Previously, I was able to select and list plus-size variations using “W” sizing (e.g. 20W, 22W, etc.). However, this option now appears to be unavailable. The only size variations currently offered are standard numeric sizes (e.g. 6–24), which do not accurately represent plus-size items.

This is causing problems with my listings, as many of my items are specifically designed and labelled as plus sizes (W sizing), and I need to reflect this correctly for buyers.

  • Whether the “W” size variation option has been removed intentionally
  • If there is an alternative way to list plus sizes accurately
  • Whether this is a temporary issue or a bug that is being addressed

Accurate sizing is essential for both seller compliance and customer satisfaction, so I would appreciate your guidance on how to proceed.

Re: Issue with size variations (W sizes) after recent update

Which field and type of item (category)?

Although there is a drop down list of options for Size (for example), I can just type in whatever I like.

Same category as my example above. Like this (PC/Windows/Browser, not app)

Re: Issue with size variations (W sizes) after recent update

Hi, thanks for your response.

Yes, that’s exactly the issue I’m highlighting — previously I could manually enter sizes like 20W, 22W, etc. in the Size field, even alongside the dropdown options.

However, this is no longer possible, as the field now appears to be restricted to predefined values only and does not allow free text entry.

This means there is currently no accurate way to list plus-size “W” sizing, which is a problem for items specifically labelled this way.

On the app or a browser? It worked for me 10 minutes ago on PC/Chrome. If it doesn't work for you on similar - no idea.

Re: Issue with size variations (W sizes) after recent update

Hi, thanks for sharing the screenshot.

From what I can see, your side shows the same behaviour — although you can type a custom value (e.g. “99W”), it shows “No results found”, which is exactly what I’m experiencing.

The key issue is that this value cannot actually be saved/retained as a valid size, so it doesn’t function as a usable option when listing.

On my side, I’m unable to save sizes like 20W, 22W, etc. in the Swimwear category at all.

Could you please confirm:

  • Whether you’re actually able to save and publish a listing with a custom “W” size
  • Or if this field is now effectively restricted despite allowing input

At the moment, it seems like the option to use “W” sizing has been removed or is not working correctly.

Thanks again for checking.

That’s exactly the issue — on your screenshot there is an “+ Add custom value” option, but on my side this option is completely missing.

Re: Issue with size variations (W sizes) after recent update

I have "Add custom value" as shown in #4 and have listed as shown in #2. i.e. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/267612936157

I've no idea, other than sometimes things work differently for different people, as ebay rolls out changes (sometimes) incrementally.

One thing is I'm a private seller.

If you go to https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/267612936157

and select "Sell one like this" do you then get the option to "Add custom value"?
