posting under new system

Would someone please clarify the new system of sending parcels please?

I cannot send the items I sell by using the new system and printing out eBay labels.  I am 84.  I have been disabled since I was 46, with a neurological disease which is covered under the DDA.  Life is hard as it is without extra stress of this new system of posting. 

It is difficult for me to photograth items, yet alone acurately weigh and measure parcels.   It is easier for me to include postage in the price of the items so that I don't have to weigh and measure.  I just have to say if it is under 1kg and postable or not.  Also, if the printer breaks down they can cope with that too.

I can only send by Evri and my care helper drops them off for me.  Care costs are expensive and I cannot pay someone to weigh and measure for me.  It is also possible for Evri to collect.  My care helper who is sick at the moment doubles as the local Evri courier.  When he returns he will take the parcels with him.

Please someone tell me that I can still do that.

Can you provide a link to what new system you are referring to?
Are you saying somewhere it says that you will be forced to buy only postage through eBay? I doubt they would try and do that for private sellers, and I know they couldn't for businesses.

Perphaps they have just noticed that box that sometimes comes up on the listing page which gives you an option to specify a weight etc.

You don't have to fill it in, just ignore it and list the same way as you always have.

So it sounds like they will sneakily push you towards this new system, and force you to figure out how to bypass and ignore it!

Why didn't they just buy them out instead!

I received an email today from eBay about not paying fees any more.  It included a new posting method which they say is faster, but it isn't for me.

Got a bit of a shock when I saw that!

But I did a  bit of research and it states that you can 'opt out' of the new Simple Delivery.  It won't affect current listings (apparently) but you will need to choose to opt out with all new listings.  And since the site does opt folks into things without them knowing, best to check your current listings just to be sure.  I haven't listed anything for a while so I don't know what the new postal option format looks like (although it probably only changed today).

Yes, you can opt out of Simple Delivery when you’re creating the listing.

Do I need to do anything to my current listings?

Simple Delivery will automatically apply to all new eligible listings from private sellers in the relevant categories. Your existing listings will not be affected.

Thank you for your very useful advice.  I will certainly take it.
If I did have to use my post office, they will not take prepaid labels.  At least they didn't when I tried ages ago.

I’ve just sold something for £5:50 and charged £2:90 postage. When I went to buy the label it defaulted to Evri £5:46 and I can’t change it. I get that eBay are trying to compete with Vinted because they’ve obviously lost custom but if selling on eBay is going to be a faff I won’t be bothering. I can’t find where to toggle off simple delivery on my existing listings either. Please can anyone help with this? Thanks.

The buyer said that she didn’t choose any postage option. EBay selected it. Hmmmm... This new system sounds iffy to me. I’ll be sticking to Vinted for buying and selling from now on.
