how is this free listings going to work for buyers?

hi

so we have free listings and no commission for us private sellers...for now,

its a carrot and stick job

but how is this really going to work as it must be costing e bay a fortune in lost commissions.

will they just take the fees from business sellers and i can understand why B.S are up in arms and thinking of leaving or going private which would in turn distort the market.

or will they use vinteds model where the buyer pays a premium on top of the purchase price which would mean the actual PP + postage + a premium which in turn could frighten away buyers.

e bays constant tinkering has created more problems than it solved basicly a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

leave free listings in by all means but the 10% fvf plus 30p a transaction worked well enough for years

actually im suspicious of this..

at present its free to sell ...carrot and stick .. but what do we really have and whats in the pipeline to replace FVF.

1,.. a new e bay payments system instead of the old system where it goes to your bank the next day its a couple of days..is e bay earning daily intrest on this in their gold swiss bank account.

2,...coming january 2025 buyers pay a premium on top of their purchase so you have the purchase price postage and a fee like vinted

3,..the near future ??  sellers pay a premium so e bay gets say 10% commission from the buyer and seller just like an auction house..could this be whats around the corner ??

Whether regulation stimulates an economy or not depends on what the regulation stipulates. We don't want growth when the growth is due to the increased circulation of harmful products. Spending on compliance also counts as economic activity and suppliers of the needed goods and services make money. That's why well-regulated economies can do better than the far right ideologues expect, scream as they might about "Communism".
