eBay Signs Small Business Payments Fairness & Transparency Pledge

I thought some around here might be interested that eBay UK joined PayPal, Temu, OnBuy, Stripe and others in signing the Office of the Small Business Commissioner's 10 point payments fairness and transparency pledge.

I suspect a fair number of business sellers who have had their payouts delayed until after delivery recently would say eBay is not living up to most of those points - and for those who are experiencing those issues, it might not be a bad idea to let OSBC know about it.

When do we get the email off ebay to say they no longer hold our funds for 30 days if sent untracked! I thought it was not legal tbh

Well in my case I was given NO reason to why they started holding funds. No account issues, no disputes, no bad feedback. I was targeted it would seem due to my turnover which stinks. They told me it would last for just 30 days [I have that in writing] but 5 months down the line I'm still in this dreadful situation. I'm fuming about this and still waiting for an outcome. G

@rockertron-toys  I'd check out point number 9 in the pledge and suggest contacting OSBC about your experience.

I have a suspicious feeling that eBay may regret signing up to this as a great many sellers have had issues with or are having ongoing issues with payments being held by eBay. Having this 10 point agreement is just a stick for sellers to hit eBay with, to whit, I dont think eBay would care one way or tother to be honest.

Spot on, I didn't know about the OSBC until now. It's with the ombudsman at the moment-perhaps they are connected?

If this overturns what they have immorally done to me and others then it can only be a good thing. I actually used to like selling on here, it's been very successful for me in the past but ebay have ruined all that. As I have constantly said, I understand if there are issues with an account but in my case NOTHING! I feel picked on in the playground by the school bully here! Absolutely no reason for them to hold my money. G

Hi,

Please let us all do something together, Just yesterday Monday we recieved an email from eBay saying our payouts will be on hold as well if we don't provide tracking numbes like DPD, EVRI and the ones that are recognised by eBay. However we use a 3rd party shipping company for our deliveries which makes it harder to use these major companies.

This is very weird, we have been selling for years on eBay, exceeding than what we are making in sales, Great feedbacks, great low returns and etc. What triggered this? Do we not have a right to complain?

We complained and they refused. Please let us know if you guys have any other options which we can do.

I have read everything you have all said and it seems like hopefully we are heading towards something good, please don't give up.

Many Thanks

AFS

Once again, this has no benefit to sellers but has benefits for eBay.

We have always uploaded tracking numbers from day dot. It's not about the tracking [just an excuse] its about ebay holding onto your money to earn the interest for themselves or even better loan it back to you via youlend!!!!!!!!  File a case with the ombudsman. G
