dead sales over the last weeks

Significant drop in sales this month so far for me. How many of you got affected only in the last 2 weeks? I just want to know I'm not the only one.

You are not alone !

Pop over to the Discussion Boards,  quite a few long threads on the subject,  join in,   or start one of your own there,  you'll find out,  as said,  ' You are not alone! 😐 '

Re: dead sales over the last weeks

Every seller i know both business and private have had their sales "dip" over the last few weeks.

I would say it's no coincidence that it aligns with the forced introduction of  Simple delivery  for private sellers and BPF for their buyers amongst other  " improvements"  which may be contributing to produce the perfect storm.

Private sellers make up a good proportion of  the buyers and many will convert their proceeds directly back into purchases which will impact other sellers because many have suspended or reduced their activity until the SD indecision is resolved.

It's becoming a catch 22 situation.

Re: dead sales over the last weeks

I do not know if this will apply over all the categories on eBay, but I have been conducting my own little survey on the category that I have sold in for over 23 years and that is Coins. Firstly I no longer list a lot of items, mainly because my collection is getting smaller by the day, and not on here by the way. I have noticed this however. In the coin category, up till 3 months ago the number of listings, British only, was significantly over 650, 000, now it around 545.000. Auctions were always around 80, 000, now not much over 50,000. Auction items are selling for a lot less than they were 6 months ago, which is great for buyers, when the buyers are viewing. Views are significantly down and infrequent compared to 6 months to a year ago. Since to ludicrous ''Buyer Protection Fee'' was introduced, and do eBay think that we are all stupid! This is a blatant selling fee, it has just transferred to the buyer and it has made selling an item significantly more difficult, unless of course you are prepared to 'Give' your valuable collection away. I am not by the way, as there are other avenues to pursue. The price that a buyer views, after eBay has added its selling fee, produces a price that is ridiculous. Odd amounts like £24.76 and £12.81. How amateurish and pathetic does that look to any buyer, and it creates a price that buyers will pass by more often than not. eBay you have done some pretty stupid and useless changes in the past, and I have seen them all, but his one is by far is top of the stupid tree. Whoever came up with this must of been on something pretty strong that day, because it addled their brain and created a death knoll to your platform. A great shame because it was a brilliant concept once!

You also need to take into account bank holidays, school holidays and good weather. People want to be outside, making hay while the sun shines. Ive taken a good week off at each bank holiday due to the weather and spent my time between the allotment and down the garden, on a sun lounger with a book and a beer. Im not sitting indoors waiting for sporadic sales. Im fully self employed and can be flexible when and how I work. When the weather is nice, I will take full advantage of that fact, life is too short not to take that time if you are able.

What good weather?? Where I am in NE England it’s been dark and cold for the past 3 days.

Re: dead sales over the last weeks

Plenty of sunshine here in Sheffield where April saw only 56mm of rain. May has followed in the same manner so far. Ive had to use sunscreen when working in the allotment. Nights are still cool as its still Spring and there has been a couple of air frosts and cloudy starts but on the whole, dry, sunny and warm. So much so we are on a drought plan.

Re: dead sales over the last weeks

I have commented on this subject on the business seller board several times. I just have no understanding of what has happened, my sales dropped so much I closed my ebay shop, and have started deleting my items. I'm very sad as have been trading for many years, and relied on the extra income. You never know what you got until its gone!

Re: dead sales over the last weeks

Slow sales this month and particularly so far this weekend. It's not surprising since we've had such a dry month.  I've checked on the Amazon forums and it appears the issue isn't unique to eBay. Let's hope it's a miserably wet bank holiday weekend 😂

Re: dead sales over the last weeks

Easter bank holiday weekend wasn't particularly good and that's when the sales dried up for me.

Zero sales so far for me this May. April was just 3, March 3, Feb 3, and January was 11. Doing better elsewhere.
