Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

Hi I've just received this message contacted ebay and is being sent to everyone

That's me I'm done no more ebay for me bye bye

We are making changes to the way we process payments on eBay. Going forward, we’ll make your funds available for payout within 48 hours after we’ve confirmed delivery of the item. Until then, you’ll see a “hold” on your funds. This process helps keep our marketplace safe.

I agree - I have removed a few of my more expensive items particularly ones which I would not want to lose. I have lost trust and faith in the " selling experience"... there is nothing which is enhanced for the better... and I am certainly not having eBay " hold" by funds until an algorithm says " Yes"... whether it be 2 days, 14 or more!

I wouldn't trust Evri/Hermes to deliver a letter or parcel, to itself, let alone delivering it to anyone else.  They're a vile organisation, and I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them... and I'm terrible at throwing stuff!

I am hoping that Simple Delivery will only use suitable carriers on a per item basis - eg sufficient insurance and items that are covered by the carrier's policies.

Allegedly , we understand so far , the choice will be Evri or Royal Mail,  and the buyer chooses? 🤔

Our nearest Post Office is proabably 100 yards or so from home.    Nearest Evri point..........a mile or two and if a few larger boxed items would need to use the car...not happening.   We only use Royal Mail end of.

My son has several deliveries nearly every week....often Evri leave packages on our doorstep in full view of the road and when its obvious we are in.

Is this based on the delivery company saying it’s delivered or the buyer saying they have received the item. I say this as a seller because about 1 person in 10 actually confirm by leaving feedback at the moment. If we are expecting buyers to confirm I can see myself never selling on eBay after the change as you will never get paid.

Its based on the tracking from the delivery company saying its delivered.

Thanks at least that’s something positive, but I am still not sure if this will be much good, I guess we will find out. If it proves to be bad then I will stop selling on eBay. I always support our local post office, I would like to continue doing so, I am definitely not driving to drop off points out of my area.

Not entirely true.  They are entitled to receive the item (and it must be "as described"), so private sellers are obliged to refund the buyer if their item doesn't arrive and eBay will do this anyway.  The seller can try to get compensation from the courier, but that's another story.  (And yes, I have received compensation for missing and damaged goods from Royal Mail, so it's not impossible).  eBay are simply getting more money from buyers (which will inevitably be paid by sellers having to reduce prices) AND then take the money from sellers when refunding the buyer.  It's a scam.

And what happens when items that have been delivered haven't been marked as delivered on eBay?

Ebay sit on your money for 2 weeks.

You get it in the end though.....

So why did eBay drop selling fees to encourage more sellers just to do this. I don't walk out of a shop with goods & expect to pay weeks later. We were warned not to ship whilst funds were processing for seller protection but they expect us to take these types of risks so they can profit. Now the no selling fees makes sense. Just a way to entice us into their money making trap. Bye bye eBay I won't be selling or buying on your platform anymore

Its infuriated me 😡. They just think its fine to treat us so shabbily! I'd rather pay a selling fee like we used to....

What happens with items that are not marked as delivered? eBay has no way
of knowing unless a buyer opens an item not received case. The point here
is that eBay are holding money that's not theirs. It's not in the sellers
or buyers account so where is it? I didn't have a problem with selling fees
as I'd expect eBay has to make money but it seems they've dropped fees to
attract more sellers so they can hold all the cash & the interest accrued
which is greater than the fees they use to get. It Will backfire as people
will stop selling & buying. I will be closing my account if this is the way
they're operating

Exactly. I had no issues with selling fees as they need to make money but
it seems they worked out they can make much more money this way hence why
they dropped the fees to gather more sellers & make even more. This will
backfire as we all leave eBay not only as sellers but as buyers. I will be
closing my account so they won't make a penny from me ♥️

(All this is only relevant with the new system of 'Simple Delivery', which we will all have to use sooner-or-later)

'The point here is that eBay are holding money that's not theirs. It's not in the sellers
or buyers account so where is it?'

Absolutely. It's in ebay's account earning interest/being used on the financial markets somewhere or other...

'I didn't have a problem with selling fees'

Neither did I, and I would much rather go back to the old system too.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You're quite right it feels wrong and immoral to have a company sitting on *your* money so they can earn interest off it without giving you any!

Ebay have obviously decided or worked out that sitting on sellers money for 2 weeks, makes them more money that having to pay 'item-not-arrived' refunds out of their own coffers loses them.....

All good for private sellers *not* to have to pay refunds for 'item-not-arrived, and not to have to spend time chasing often uncontactable, recalcitrant, tight-wad delivery companies to try and get a refund from *them*...

All bad for 'private' sellers who really should be businesses as they want their money quickly to 're-stock'.

( genuine private sellers don't need to re-stock, they're supposed to sell stuff they already have) so this is partly a way for ebay to persuade non-genuine private sellers to take the plunge and register as businesses. (businesses won't have to deal with all these new rules, by the way,  life will go on exactly the same for them..)

But this may end up chucking the baby out with the bathwater because ;

NOT being in charge of your own postage, not having a smart-phone, not having a printer, not being able to get out of the house, and many other hurdles are in the way of genuine private sellers easily being able to use Simple Delivery.

These sellers may end up leaving.

So they won't be buying either.

Ebays *competitors* may end up getting more customers.... sure that's not good for business!

I have not seen that anywhere, they have not yet announced when mandatory simple delivery will come in, just sometime  in Q1.  I should imagine we will be told in the next few weeks once everyone has got used to the idea of buyers paying a fee and sellers having to wait for their money.
