Why is ebay lying and saying my item is dispatched?

Oh how wonderful "Simple Delivery" is. I sit here on a Sunday preparing my parcels for Tuesday posting. Forced to use the ridiculous new system I download the label. Upon doing so my item is now marked as dispatched. I have always hated the dispatched lie that many companies use when an order has only been processed at their premises, but now the same lie is forced onto me.

I 100% agree. Previously, if I used say Parcel2Go to book a parcel I would never mark it as dispatched until I had actually dropped it off or had it collected.

There should be a 2 step dispatch notification - first 'Booked' or 'Label Issued' and second 'Dispatched'.

As a buyer I often have to message a seller to ask if the item was actually sent when 'dispatched' or do they still have it there.

It's been that way for a long time, way before SD came in.

As soon as a seller buys postage or uploads/downloads/prints off a label Ebay automatically mark it as dispatched.

It gives buyers a false sense that item is on it's way, they sometimes ignore the "estimated" delivery dates. Then comes the "where's my item" messages.

I wish Ebay would make it clear to buyers what is really happening and give sellers the option to mark items as dispatched when they "actually" have been.

Yes

item is being prepared would be a better status for when seller prints the label

once actually dropped off and scanned it  could show it as despatched

for untracked items could be a box to tick to confirm it’s been sent
