I have an 8" double sided mirror on a stand which has been used but seldom and it's in excellent clean condition. It appears I cannot list it as they have to be new.
Does anyone have a feasible reasoning for this?

That does seem odd. What category are you listing it in?

Maybe if its broken, it might give ebay 7 years bad luck. 😑 🙄😂

Are you listing it in the cosmetics and beauty type of category?
AFAIK, cosmetic type things *have* to be new.....try listing it in home furnishings or that sort of thing. You may have more luck there!

If the mirror has ever reflected something then it’s used.

I was trying to list in 'Health & Beauty...Make Up Mirrors'. I do understand actual make up has to be new but the mirror you apply it with?? 'Other Home & Furniture' will work but it shouldn't have to be that way surely. Mystifying!

Blame ebay's artificial "intelligence".
